Bei dieser Gelegenheit möchte ich darauf hinweisen, dass die Frequenzen in den USA unterschiedlich sind. Es ist also nicht nur eine SIM Karte erforderlich, sondern auch das passende Mobilphone.
T-Mobile (auch Lyca Mobile) nutzt das 1900-MHz-Band für GSM (Sprache) und EDGE (2G) und UMTS (3G) Daten (wird allerdings weiterhin abgebaut). Es verwendet das 1700 (AWS) Band für UMTS (3G) Daten anstatt 1900 Mhz in einigen Märkten. Geplant ist allerdings, das UMTS (3G) gar nicht mehr genutzt wird und nur noch 2G und LTE angeboten wird. Die Umrüstung läuft bereits !
Für LTE verwendet T-Mobile die Bänder 2 (1900), 4 (1700), 12 (700 a,b,c) und 66 (1700 Mhz). Das primäre LTE-Band von T-Mobile ist Band 4. Band 2 wird nur in ehemaligen 2G-Gebieten eingesetzt, in denen T-Mobile kein Band 4-Spektrum hat. In einigen, vielleicht allen, dieser Band 2 nur LTE-Märkte, 3G wird nicht angeboten, nur 2G und LTE.
AT&T (auch H2O Wireless, Red Pocket) verwendet die 850Mhz und 1900 Mhz Bänder für UMTS (3G) für (Sprache + Daten). In einigen Regionen verwenden sie beide Frequenzen in anderen nur eine von beiden. Abgesehen von einigen veralteten Karten gibt es keine Möglichkeit zu sagen, wo sie welche Frequenz verwenden.
Für LTE verwendet AT&T die Bänder 2 (1900), 4 (1700), 5 (850), 12/17 (700 a, b) 29 (700 d) und 30 (2300) Band 12 ist das primäre LTE-Band von AT&T. Band 17 ist die Teilmenge von Band 12, die AT&T verwendet. AT&T identifizierte sein 700 MHz-Spektrum ursprünglich als Band 17, identifiziert es aber jetzt als 12 und 17, was es Telefonen mit entweder Band 12 oder Band 17 erlaubt, es zu benutzen. Die Bänder 2, 4, 5, 29 und 30 werden in Gebieten eingesetzt, in denen AT&T kein Band 12-Spektrum besitzt und auch in Kombination mit Band 12 in städtischen Gebieten, um die Kapazität und Geschwindigkeit zu erhöhen.
