Galápagos Islands: Air Europa Flights Starting at €574 from 4 Countries (with Luggage)

Galapagos Schildkröte

If you want to travel to the Galápagos Islands, you usually have to pay around €1,000 for an economy ticket. Thanks to an offer from Air Europa, you can currently get to the archipelago off the coast of Ecuador at a much lower price from Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, and Belgium.

You can book a round trip flight to San Cristobal or Baltra Island for as little as €574. One piece of checked baggage up to 23 kg is even included. Open-jaw flights to get to know both destinations are also possible.

Info

Before planning a trip to the Galápagos Islands, you should familiarize yourself with the special entry requirements for the archipelago. Among other things, two taxes or fees are mandatory but not included in the flight price:

  • Transit Card at Quito or Guayaquil Airport: US$20 (~€19)
  • Entrance fee to the Galápagos Islands: US$100 (~€93)

You can read more about this at Galapagos Low Cost. Also, note the current entry regulations for Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. Among other things, an up to 72-hour-old PCR test is mandatory, and everyone over the age of 16 must be fully vaccinated.

With Air Europa, all tickets can currently be rebooked without having to pay a rebooking fee. However, the price difference always applies. If you book through an OTA, additional fees may apply. Unfortunately, booking directly on the airline’s website is not possible here.

You have to change planes at least twice in each direction. First, Air Europa will fly to Guayaquil in Ecuador via Madrid. A Boeing 787 Dreamliner is used on long-haul routes. This flight makes a stop in Quito on the journey to Guayaquil. The stop there is quite long (over two hours), so you may have to get off the plane there briefly.

LATAM then flies you from Quito or Guayaquil to the Galápagos Islands. The outbound flight is comparatively short, with a total travel time of around 24 hours. On the way back, you usually have to spend a night in Ecuador.

You can also extend the layovers in Ecuador to a longer stopover, e.g. with 5 days in Guayaquil for roughly €625, bookable on Expedia. In general, we recommend booking on Expedia instead of other OTAs.

There is no minimum stay requirement, but there’s a maximum of 3 months. Google Flights displays all available dates, even if at a more expensive price than our Travel-Dealz flight search.

About the Galápagos Islands

The Galápagos Islands are considered an absolute dream destination for nature lovers and offer unique diving and snorkelling opportunities.

The island is populated by thousands of Galápagos giant tortoises and marine iguanas. They are also home to the little Galápagos penguins.

The tourist infrastructure has been greatly expanded in recent years. Accommodation is sometimes quite affordable and available from as little as €30 per night in a double room. For a slightly higher standard, you should expect to be paying €100 per night. You can find a list of the costs for budget travellers at Roaming Around the World.
