Mexico City: €309 From Barcelona (€408 Including Luggage)

Mexiko City

The SkyTeam carriers Air France and KLM are currently offering cheap fares on flights from Barcelona to Mexico City. Return-flights from Europe to Mexico are available at prices starting at only €309. Availability is good between November and April next year. Sadly, the winter holidays are excluded.

Nice offer on flights to Mexico

This is a Light fare. Consequently, only carry-on luggage and a personal item will be included. But you can add check bags for around €100 per round-trip.

Depending on the carrier you choose, your trip will include a layover in Paris or Amsterdam. From there, you will fly directly to Mexico in most cases. But some options will route the trip via Atlanta, and from there Delta will take over. Since this means that you will need to go through US immigration, we wouldn’t recommend choosing this option.

Search & Book

Tickets for this deal should be sold until October 23rd. At least that’s what the fare rules say. But of course, the cheap seats could be sold out much earlier. You will be able to find flights between November and April 2020. But Xmas and New Year’s Eve are not included.

You’ll have to stay for 6 days or at least for a night from Saturday to Sunday and return no later than 3 months after your departure. Otherwise, you can’t book this fare.

Once again, Google Flights (instructions) will show you all connections. This time it doesn’t make a difference if you use our Travel dealz flight search or book directly on the carrier’s website. Prices will be more or less the same. If you’re planning on adding checked bags, the airline will be the better choice anyway.

Tickets for short-haul segments will be issued in booking class L, the one for the flight from Europe to Mexico in booking class V. Here’s what you can earn for a trip with Air France via Paris:

Information & Tips for Mexico City

3 Tips for Mexico City

Mexico City is not quite as touristic as, for example, the seaside resort city and party destination Cancun. This means that hardly anybody speaks English, but you also don’t have to be afraid of being ripped off because you look like a tourist. My 3 tips for Mexico City:

  1. Torre Latinoamericana: The office tower – which looks a bit ugly from the outside – offers a fantastic view over the city, especially at dusk. The ticket is valid for several visits over the course of a whole day and costs 110 Pesos (= 4,50€).
  2. Chapultepec Park: There is a free zoo in Chapultepec Park. Even though admission is free, you can admire a total of 252 different animal species.
  3. Teotihuacán: A little outside of town are the impressive pyramids of Teotihuacán. I recommend that you get there early, otherwise you’ll have to wait in line for a long time. I came by public bus (not through an organized tour), I found the instructions on how to do that in this blog. I would also recommend checking out the cave restaurant there!

For getting around Mexico City I recommend using Uber. The countless taco stands are also great and extremely cheap. However, make sure that the meat is adequately cooled. Unfortunately, you often see that raw meat is lying somewhere in the blazing sun.
