Flying business class to Australia is rarely cheap. Currently, however, you can get an excellent price on Oman Air’s website, if you spend at least one night in Kuala Lumpur on the outbound flight to Perth. If you’re not in a hurry, that could make the deal even sweeter, as you’ll get to see 2 cities for the price of not even one business class ticket.
The price used to be roughly €2,100, and even that was already a good price. Now, with this price drop of over €600, it has become quite an exceptional deal!
Departing from Milan-Malpensa, the business class tickets only cost €1,486. The long-haul routes Milan – Muscat – Kuala Lumpur and back take place in Oman Air‘s lie-flat business class. From Malaysia to Perth (approx. 6 hours flight time in each direction), however, you usually have to make do with the recliner seats of Malindo Air.
Those who have been vaccinated are now allowed to travel to Australia without significant restrictions. A corona test is no longer necessary. At the end of April, Western Australia also lifted the previously applicable restrictions (G2G Pass).
According to the Oman Air website, it should be possible to rebook the tickets without having to pay a rebooking fee as part of the Corona goodwill rules. However, the booking change must then be made by the end of May, so it probably won’t be of much use to you.
The best way to book directly with Oman Air is to use the form below. This is the only way to see the cheapest options with Malindo Air. The deal is valid for travel from September to November 2022 and January to March 2023:
Airlines & Layovers
Two layovers are necessary on the way to Perth. The first is at Muscat Airport, home of Oman Air. You will then have to change planes again in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each flight lasts six to seven hours. You can then stay in Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days before continuing your trip to Perth (min. one night). On the way back, however, you’ll only have a 2-hour layover in Kuala Lumpur.
You will fly from Milan via Muscat to Kuala Lumpur with Oman Air in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Business class is always equipped with lie-flat seats there. Between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, you’ll fly with Malindo Air. Usually, you’ll have to sit in recliner seats in a 2-2 arrangement.

Search & Book
The fare rules do not give much information about the fare. The only thing they state is that you are not allowed to stay in Australia for more than 3 months. Apparently, there is no minimum stay.
Sadly, Google Flights (instructions) does not display these fares, due to the segment with Malindo air. We recommend trying out a few options using our form above, which then redirect you to Oman Air’s booking site.
The tickets are issued in booking class R. You will receive the following credits for flights with Oman Air (
MXP - MCT - KUL and back):
- 19,130 Award Miles on Etihad Guest
- 15,940 Award Miles on Air Canada Aeroplan
Hotel prices in Perth usually start at roughly €50, depending on the hotel category. Whichever category and hotel you opt for, make sure to get the best price! Our recommendation is to search on booking.com, or even on our own Travel-Dealz hotel search:
