Air Canada (member of the Star Alliance) is currently offering a great deal on flights from Switzerland to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. With departures from Basel, Zurich, and Geneva, there are return flights starting at €347. Hand luggage & personal items are included in the price, but no checked luggage. Unfortunately, the Standard fare including 23 kg of luggage will cost €490 or more
With Air Canada, all tickets booked by August 31 can be rebooked without a rebooking fee (fare difference applies). Alternatively, a cancellation is possible, the flight price is then refunded as an Air Canada voucher. This voucher is then valid indefinitely! More information here at Air Canada.

In addition to the capital San José, flights to Liberia in the northwest of the country are also possible. The flights to Liberia cost roughly €30 more and also include an overnight stay in Toronto or Montreal on the way there.
The long-haul routes are always operated by Air Canada. You can either change planes in Montreal or Toronto. If you fly to San José, Boeing 787s or Boeing 777s will be used on all routes. Only if you fly to Liberia do you have to spend the 6 hours from Canada to Costa Rica onboard a Boeing 737 Max. If you have two stopovers, there is usually a feeder flight to Frankfurt or Munich, operated by Lufthansa, or to a different airport, such as London-Heathrow, operated by SWISS.

Hi, cheapest Latitude fare I could find was between 800-900 euros. Nowhere was the 140 euros difference.

The inaugural flight YYZ-SJO is supposed to start flying on October 13th, 2021. There’s no availability in September, unfortunately.
