Beach Maldives

The Maldives are certainly of dream destinations for many travelers. But unfortunately, not the cheapest one to reach. Currently, Saudia is selling tickets for flights from London to Malé for prices starting at only €423/£375, making it really affordable to get to this paradise in the Indian Ocean.

LHR MLE Saudia Eco
Flights from London to Malé with Saudia

Your ticket includes full onboard service as well as checked baggage and one piece of hand luggage. Availability isn’t excellent, but you will be able to find flights starting in October and through to March 2020.

Your trip will include at least one layover in Saudia Arabia. Some of the offers even show a second stop in Colombo. After changing planes in Riyadh or Jeddah, the SkyTeam member will fly you to Malé International Airport. The carrier should operate a Boing 777 during the whole trip.

Info

Saudi is presumably seen as a controversial airline by many. And at the least, you should know that they are a dry airline, which means that they won’t serve alcohol.

Search & Book

According to the fare rules, tickets for this deal will be sold until September 30th. The offer seems to be valid for trips commencing between October 1st and March 23rd – which is precisely the time that we’ve been able to find connections. Only the time between Xmas and New Year’s Eve is an exeption.

You will have to stay for at least a week. But we’re assuming that this shouldn’t be a problem since 7 days is a rather short period to visit such a beautiful sun destination. There is no maximum period mentioned in the fare rules.

Use Google Flights (instructions) to find the best connections. In most cases, you will only save very little by booking via an OTA our Travel Dealz flight search. Therefore we’d suggest you have Google forward you to the carrier’s website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

All tickets will be issued in booking class V. This will get you an earning rate of 25% to 50% on most SkyTeam frequent flyer program. Here’s what you can expect:
