Mauritius: €419 From Italy With Saudia (Checked Bags Included)

Le Morne Brabant, Mauritius

Mauritius is undoubtedly a dream destination for many travelers. But unfortunately, not the cheapest one to reach. Currently, Saudia is selling tickets for round-trips from Milan and Rome at prices starting at around €419, making it really affordable to get to this paradise in the Indian Ocean.

MXP MRU Saudia
Cheap flights from Italy to Mauritius

What makes this deal unique is not only the great price but also the fact that the fare already includes two pieces of checked luggage. Sadly not standard anymore nowadays. The availability is decent from January to March 2020.

From Italy, your first flight will take you to Saudi Arabia. After changing planes, the airline will fly you to your final destination. Be aware of long layover times when booking your flight! Also, connections from Milan often include two layovers.

Info

Saudi is presumably seen as a controversial airline by many. And at the least, you should know that they are a dry airline, which means that they won’t serve alcohol.

Search & Book

According to the fare rules, the airline will be selling tickets until November 24th. Or of course, until cheap seats have sold out. The offer is valid for trips commencing before March 31st, but there are blackout dates over the winter holidays.

The minimum stay requirements are seven days, and there is no maximum period for your trip. Use Google Flights (instructions) to check all available connections. Once you’ve found the ideal flights, use our Travel Dealz flight search to compare prices and book your tickets.

You can also book directly with the airline. But please note that this could mean that you have to call the carrier. Booking online won’t work in some cases. But there is not that much of a difference between the airline’s prices and what OTAs offer. So you might want to be on the safe side here.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

Since Saudi is a member of the SkyTeam alliance, you can earn miles on several programs. The booking class in which tickets will be issued is V, resulting in an earning rate of up to 50%. Here’s what a trip from Milan could get you:
