At the moment, there is quite an interesting deal for the Hotel Le Plaza in Brussels on Secret Escapes. You can get a night for £109 (~€127) (+ €4.24 tourist tax). Breakfast is included, and the rate can be cancelled free of charge up to eight days before arrival. There is (almost) daily availability in August, then on weekends between September and December, and during the Christmas holidays (December 16 – January 8, except New Year’s Eve).
You would be staying in a Classic room, which is about 30 square meters large and equipped with a minibar, safe, TV, telephone and bathroom with toilet and shower. Wifi is available free of charge.
While the weather is rather cold from October onward, at least you get to visit the Christmas markets and ice rinks in December.
The Hotel
The hotel has a restaurant and bar, as well as a gym. Google gives it a 4.2/5 rating. An airport shuttle is also available if required (at an additional cost).
The hotel is very centrally located in the Belgian metropolis of Brussels. The Atomium is to the north, the airport to the northeast, and the Palais de Bruxelles to the south. The Rogier metro stop is right around the corner, and there are all sorts of restaurants, bars and other shops in the immediate vicinity.
Price Check
While you’re paying around €135 per night on Secret Escapes, including the tourist tax, you’d have to pay at least €190 including tax if you booked a refundable rate with breakfast elsewhere, e.g. for a night in October. The savings are usually just under 30% or more, depending on the date.
Even if you were to book a non-refundable rate without breakfast directly at the hotel, you’d usually have to pay at least €135. So in a way, by booking on Secret Escapes, you’re getting paid €2 to have breakfast for two and the ability to cancel the booking.
