We’ve reported about quite many companion sales by Lufthansa in the past few days. Now there’s a new hot deal for flights from Finland. You can fly to Asia (and back) in first class starting at only €1,503.
Worldwide travel restrictions are in place to slow the spread of Covid-19. We strongly recommend gathering detailed information about the travel and quarantine restrictions that apply to your desired origin and destination.
A good start is the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website. It provides current updates on a country’s immigration policies. Even better, the Covid-19 Travel Regulations Map is one of the most useful tools you can find.
This is a partner sale – you have to purchase tickets for at least two adults to get the quoted price.
There are also some deals from the Baltics (Riga, Vilnius, or Tallinn), but you need at least 3 passengers to get these prices. Additionally, these flights don’t seem to be available directly on the airline’s website but only on third-party sites such as Expedia. Here are some examples from Vilnius:
The long-haul flights are either operated by Lufthansa (Boeing 747-8) or Swiss (Boeing 777, Airbus A330, or A340). If you’re flying with Swiss, you’ll have two layovers.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, these flights will remain bookable at this price until November 22, 2020, but we highly doubt that. Sadly, booking these flights is not totally simple. While Lufthansa has a landing page for these deals:
Should you, however, search for flights via that sight, you’ll only be shown flights in premium economy and business class. If you search for the flights on swiss.com, then you’ll see the first class fares. That means that you even have to book the Lufthansa flights on Swiss’ website.
Sadly, you’ll mostly land on a site such as this when searching for your flight:
Here you have to select one of the many options. Google Flights can be a help for finding the cheapest option.
Miles
The first class flights are issued in booking class A. The feeder flights are issued in booking class J. Miles&More will credit you 300% of the distance as status miles in first class. Together with the feeder flights, a roundtrip should thus get you around 33,000 miles (or even more if you hold a status).
Award miles, however, are revenue based at Miles&More. You’d get 4 to 6 award miles per Euro, adding up to roughly 5,000 miles. Therefore, other options may be more attractive:
- 33,034 Award Miles + 680 Points on Miles&More
- 33,034 Miles on Aegean Miles+Bonus
