If you’re visiting Porto at some point between November and February, you could currently book a room at the Mercure Porto Centro Aliados for only €73 if you book on Hotels.com. In theory, you could also pay €69 for a non-refundable rate, if you’re willing to take the risk to save €4 per night.
You would be staying in a Classic room with a city view, either with a double bed or twin beds. A room with a garden view costs roughly €8 more. The rooms are roughly 24 m² large. Breakfast is not included and costs €15 per person if you add it during your stay. If, however, you directly book the rate that includes breakfast, you’d be paying only half, i.e. €15 for 2 guests.
Winters in Porto are usually mild and rainy, with temperatures around 6-13 °C from December through February. Of those, January is usually the rainiest month. November is still a bit warmer, with temperatures of 8-16 °C on most dates.

The Mercure Porto Centro Aliados is a 4-star Accor hotel, located only 3 minutes away from the São Bento railway station and the Mercado do Bolhão. It is one of the few hotels in the area to have an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and 24-hour room service. Furthermore, the hotel offers one of the best hotel bars in Porto and also offers childcare. The rooms have TVs and a minibar, among other things.
Previous guests have left very good reviews of the hotel, many of them praising the friendly staff, the modern and nicely decorated rooms, the great and tasty breakfast selection, the very central location, the clean pool, and the 7 sunbeds.
Located a 3-minute walk away from São Bento train station, you’re in a very good location for tourists, with a huge selection of restaurants right at your feet. There are also many sights nearby, such as the Igreja de Santo Ildefonso, which is less than 10 minutes away on foot. From the Bolhao subway station, which is roughly 5 minutes away, you can take the E line, which takes less than half an hour to get to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport.
This price is good on various levels. For instance, on the same dates, Accor charges €86 for a refundable rate, meaning that you’re saving about 15% by booking on Hotels.com.
Then, there’s the price comparison to other hotels. While this is always a bit tricky as different hotels aren’t 1:1 comparable, we think it’s fair to compare this hotel to the other (worse-rated) Mercure in Porto, which charges around €95 on the same dates. So by sleeping at the better-rated Mercure, you’re paying around 25% less than if you were to stay at the other one.
And lastly, there’s the question of how much the Mercure Porto Centro Aliados usually charges for a night. If we look at March, i.e. one month later, you’d be seeing prices around €100 for a refundable rate. So, by staying at the hotel a bit earlier, you’re saving almost 30%.
