Holland America Line‘s Volendam is crossing the Atlantic in November, departing from Civitavecchia and stopping in Spain and Portugal’s island of Madeira before heading to Fort Lauderdale. This 14-night cruise currently only costs €699 per person. The real deal, though, is getting an outside cabin for only €799.

While the €799-cabin has an obstructed view, you can get an unobstructed view for €839 per person – still a great price. Whichever cabin you choose, lemonade and iced tea will be included on deck in the afternoon, as well as all meals.

The Ship

The Volendam was launched in 1999 and is an old-school ship with traditional dress-up nights. As usual at he Holland America Line, service is phenomenal. You also have three included dining options: Dive-In (fast food), Lido Market (casual), and the Rotterdam Dining Room (American).

The 716 cabins have been updated since the ship’s launch, especially the bathrooms. While they are very small, they are comfortable and offer amenities such as a safe, a hair dryer, a makeup mirror, drinking glasses and a fruit basket. The cabins also offer a large closet and cabinet. On the flat-screen TV, you’ll receive many TV channels, such as BBC, Fox, or MSNBC. However, there aren’t many power plugs in the cabins. The service includes a turn-down service.

Overall, the MS Volendam’s crew offers incredible service and the midsized ship’s variety of activities and amenities make up for its age.
