Bangkok & Johannesburg: €1,417 Qatar Airways Business Class From Oslo (Lounge Access Adds €220)

Qatar QSuite

After a long drought, Oneworld member Qatar Airways finally offers some discounted business class fares again. This time, they promote fares from Oslo to Johannesburg and Bangkok, the latter starting at NOK 14,197 (~€1,215). All routes have a single layover in Doha. On some flights, you may even get to fly in Qatar’s Qsuite.

Sadly, all of these are Business Lite fares, that do not include lounge access or seat selection. The fare including these services is rougly NOK 1,100 (~€94) more expensive per direction.

Info

Worldwide travel restrictions are in place to slow the spread of Covid-19. We strongly recommend gathering detailed information about the travel and quarantine restrictions that apply to your desired origin and destination.

A good start is the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website. It provides current updates on a country’s immigration policies. Even better, the Covid-19 Travel Regulations Map is one of the most useful tools you can find.

Our Go2 search tool will forward directly to Qatar Airways with your selected flight dates. The calendar highlights all flight dates with the lowest fares for trips up to 28 days.

A good fare for a luxury ride.

Flights between Oslo and Doha are serviced by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner or Airbus A350-900 aircraft. A variation of Boeing 787 or 777 will take you to Bangkok. We can certainly say that the Dreamliners do not feature Qsuites. The same mix of Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft operates between Doha and Johannesburg.

Search & Book

The sales and travel period are not limited. A minimum stay of five days applies as well as a maximum stay of one month. Flights at the lowest fare show almost daily availability between mid-May and early June (both JNB & BKK) or from September 2022 onwards (only Bangkok).

You can use Google Flights to find additional travel dates at the lowest fare. Enter your flight dates directly at qatarairways.com to make sure you can cancel or rearrange your flights without any hassle. If you are sure you’re going, our flight search might show you some cheaper tickets, distributed by online travel agencies.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

Tickets are issued in booking class P. A roundtrip to Bangkok should earn you the following mileage:

  • 25,452 Miles on Royal Jordanian Royal Club
  • 19,090 Points on JetBlue TrueBlue
  • 19,090 Miles on SriLankan FlySmiLes
  • 15,908 Miles on American AAdvantage
  • 9,544 Avios + 560 Tier Points on British Airways Executive Club
  • 9,544 Avios + 80 Qpoints on Qatar Privilege Club
  • 9,544 Avios + 1,400 Elite Points on Iberia Plus
  • 9,544 AsiaMiles + 200 Club Points on Asia Miles
  • 9,544 Miles on Alaska Mileage Plan
  • 9,544 Award Miles on Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus
  • 9,544 Points on Finnair Plus
  • 9,544 Award Miles on LATAM Pass
  • 9,544 Points + 24 Elite Points on Malaysia Airlines Enrich
  • 9,544 Miles on MEA Cedar Miles
  • 9,544 Miles on Royal Air Maroc Safar Flyer
  • 9,544 Award Miles on Oman Air Sindbad
  • 8,908 Miles on Japan Airlines Mileage Bank

In addition, both round trips are worth 560 tier points in British Airways Executive Club. You need 600 tier points (currently only 450) and 4 flight segments in British Airways or Iberia to gain Oneworld Sapphire status. A regular economy ticket connecting in London or Madrid in addition to this flight should do the trick.

Am looking bisnes class promo trip from north Europe to Philippines. All Qatar flights seems to be max one month. I need to found promo flight for max 6 or 7 month. Have there be so long max stays at all? Am member of one world alliance and also Star alliance, so am looking to get points from these flights. Thanks.

  2. Ditmar Lange says:

    Dear readers,
I did not see that the segment from Doha to Singapore/Bangkok is in Economy class. I sincerely appologize for this mistake.

  3. Joe says:

1 of 2 segments in Eco, hence not 560 TP.

  4. Andi says:

Please check your deals twice. Every price I found that fits this offer will be booked in multiple class, meaning second leg from DOH you will be seated in Economy.

  5. Andris says:

This is a trap! For this fare Qatar offers only MULTIPLE CABINS, which means in one of the flights each way you will be seated in Economy. Great marketing Qatar…

  6. Peter says:

Be Aware! It is MULTIPLE CABINS for this price. DOH-SIN, DOH – BKK leg is in economy

  7. Alex says:

Please don’t confuse your readers…this a multiple cabin booking, with only the OSL-DOH segment in business, the rest in the economy. So one does not get to try the Qsuites at all for that price.
