Qatar Airways Stopover: Stay in 5-Star Hotels for $40

Doha Qatar

Most guests traveling with Qatar Airways via Doha probably won’t see to see much of the capital of Qatar. Except for the airport, of course. In order to change this, the airline is offering a Discover Qatar program, which allows you to stay at 4 or 5 – for as little as US$40 (~€37).

For this offer, the airline is cooperating with the national tourism authority of Qatar. Hotels can be booked directly through a special website that Qatar Airways has set up specifically for this matter.

Booking a flight that includes a stopover can be done via qatarairways.com. Choose Book on the main page and then the Multi-City option. Your search could look like the following example:

If you don’t want to use Qatar’s website and would prefer to book via an OTA or a regular travel agency, you can do so. Just make sure that your ticket starts with “157”.

Depending on the fare, a stopover in Doha that lasts for more than 24 hours can lead to a higher price. This is mostly due to additional taxes and fees since you won’t just simply change aircraft but arrive in Doha and then depart again separately. But more often than not, the discount you get on the hotel rate will compensate for the higher ticket price.

Discounted Stays at 4 & 5-star Hotels

The offer is for economy and business class passengers alike. Two travelers (+ one child) can stay at a 4 or 5-star hotel at a the following rates:

  • Standard 4-star hotels
    • 1 night: US$28 (~€26)
    • 2 nights: US$3 (~€3)

what do you think, which hotel is the best option/have the most value? but in any of the hotels is brekafast incl. right?

hey, do you know if its necessary for the discount hotel to book directly on qarar or is it also possible to book via an OTA?

    • Patrick says:

Hi there! While Qatar keeps mentioning that the booking should be made via the official homepage, terms & conditions only state that your ticket has to be confirmed by Qatar Airways. Also, the E-ticket number has to start with “157”. Both requirements should be met if you book via an OTA. But this is, of course, an answer without any guarantee on correctness? You could always try calling Qatar or post your question in our new Travel Dealz forum (only available in German).

Great news! Thanks for coming back and sharing this information with us. We added a short paragraph letting other readers know about the fact that flights can definitely be booked via an OTA as well.

Congrats! Happy to hear that you’ll be able to benefit from the stopover deal? The offer is on a “room only basis”. Consequently, breakfast is not automatically included. While I’ve never been to Doha, I am assuming that most 5-star hotels will be fine. Personally, I’d give InterContinental, Marriott Marquis, and Rotana a closer look.
