Sydney: €2,294 Qatar Airways Business Class from Stockholm & Oslo

Qatar Airways QSuite

Due to political turmoil on the Arabian peninsula, Oneworld member airline Qatar Airways is fighting for customers all over the world. One way they’re doing this is reguarly offering great deals for business class tickets. The latest example is a SEK 24,636 (~€2,127) roundtrip fare from Stockholm to Sydney. Fares from Oslo start at NOK 23,271 (~€1,999)

You can select your flights to feature Qsuite service on all flights between Doha and Down Under. Further, these tickets alone fulfill the tier point requirement to get Oneworld Sapphire status through British Airways Executive Club.

Most flights between Scandinavia and Doha are operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft. These planes feature a new business class product, but no Qsuites. Qatar Airways specifically advertises this product on the following routes:

  • Auckland (QR 920/921)
  • Sydney (QR906/907)

According to fare rules, this offer expires on February 29, 2020. The travel period is not restricted, but the fare is not valid for flights departing Friday or Saturday. A minimum stay of 5 days is required and a maximum stay of 1 month is allowed. You may find scattered availability before October 2020 and almost daily departures at the lowest fare afterwards.

Google Flights displays fares to Sydney correctly. You can look for suiting travel dates there (instructions) on book your flights either through via our flight search or directly on qatarairways.com. We recommend doing the latter.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

The flights are in booking class R. You will receive at least 100% in miles for the distance flown which results in a lot of miles for such a far travel. Check out the possible mileage accrual with your preferred program – this example covers a trip to Sydney without tier bonuses:
