Saudia Business Class: Addis Ababa → Washington, D.C. for 318€ Oneway (Refundable)

Saudia Business Class

Since yesterday, a very special and incredibly cheap business class offer has been discussed in the Flyertalk forum. Saudia will fly you from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the US capital Washington, D.C. for just €318 one-way in business class. A closer look reveals a few snags – but the deal is too good to simply ignore.

This is even the Business Flex fare. According to Fare Rules, it can be cancelled free of charge up to 2 days before departure, so you are only subject to currency fluctuations. The information on the Saudia website is contradictory, as some pages only mention free cancellation until the end of May. However, the fare details should be decisive.

Warning

Despite the cancellation option, you should not blindly book this offer. Consider the following aspects:

  1. There are question marks regarding the visa situation for transit through Ethiopia on separate tickets. If transit is not allowed without a visa, you will need a tourist visa for just under €50 in the worst case and have to enter the country regularly. Theoretically, there is also a transit visa, but it is similarly expensive.
  2. At the end of last year, the American aviation authorities warned that civilian aircraft were also in danger of being shot down due to conflicts.
  3. As an Islamic airline, Saudia does not serve alcohol, even in business class. A certain dress code (e.g. no shorts) is also expected.
  4. The journey to Ethiopia takes at least 6 hours and is not cheap. In economy class, prices start from about €300. Miles&More award tickets (business class to – ADD for 35,000 miles + €86) may be more attractive. Even short flights from cities in Africa to Addis Ababa can be expensive – but there are some cheap award tickets there.
  5. The price is unusually cheap. A cancellation by Saudia cannot be ruled out

Basically, this deal is only interesting if you either wanted to visit Ethiopia anyway and/or are looking for a one-way ticket from Africa to the USA. Then the offer is unbeatable!

If you still want to book, you can simply use the following form. We have marked all available dates with a short flight time (i.e. no visa required for Saudi Arabia) in green for you. We will then forward you to Saudia’s booking site:

You can fly via either Jeddah or Riyadh on this deal. The most obvious connections are via Riyadh since the transfer time (less than 3 hours) is pleasantly short there. The flight from Addis Ababa to Jeddah is then usually carried out with an Airbus A330 (angled sleeper seat), before continuing your trip to Washington onboard a Boeing 777 (lie-flat). Even if the new business class with lie-flat seats is currently being used, changes are possible at any time.

Search & Book

It is unknown how long the deal will be available. However, the price is so cheap that you shouldn’t hesitate if you’re interested.

You can find available dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights (instructions). We recommend booking directly on Saudia’s website.
