SkyTeam members Air France and KLM currently sell a bunch of discounted tickets from seven Italian cities to São Paulo. Tickets from Bologna are the cheapest, starting at €1,375; but many other origins for less than €1,400 are possible. All itineraries require a change of planes in either Amsterdam or Paris.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days – with departure from Rome and Milan. Availability from the other airports is fairly similar. The tool forwards you to KLM with your preselected flight dates, since the airline offers the cheapest tickets itself. Flights at the lowest fare are available in March and November 2023.
Availabilities from Milan are much better if you are willing to spend a night in Amsterdam or Paris on the outbound leg. Alternatively, some itineraries route you with Air France via Bogotá or Panama City. In those cases, your final leg is operated by Copa Airlines or Avianca.
If you are willing to pay more than €1,600, you can also reach several cities in Colombia and Ecuador, too.
Aircraft types and business class products on the long-haul segments vary between Air France and KLM.
Before Covid-19, Air France still had 4 different business class versions, but now, as the A380 & A340 have left the fleet, only 3 remain. The business class in the A380 was no longer up to today’s standards, unlike the business class that’s installed in the Boeing 787-Dreamliner and Airbus A350, which is modern and comfortable. This business class is now continuously being installed in other Air France planes as well.
By now, modern seats have also become the norm at KLM. Its business class is definitely not a bad choice, also thanks to the good service. Like many other airlines, the Boeing 787 always has the newest business class seats installed.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, tickets are sold at this price until February 2, 2023. To get the cheapest fare, you need to stay at least six days or one night from Saturday to Sunday at your destination. A maximum stay of 3 months applies. The cheap tickets are available mainly in February, March and November 2023. You can find scattered availability throughout the rest of the year.
Google Flights helps you find additional flight dates. Since KLM sells the cheapest tickets on its website, it is a no-brainer to purchase your tickets there.
Mileage
While European feeders are ticketed in booking class J, long haul tickets are booking class O. This is a very unattractive premium booking class, that gives only little mileage outside FlyingBlue.
