Montreal: €102 One-Way Star Alliance Flights From Paris (€179 w/Luggage)

Montreal, Kanada

On long-haul routes, a one-way flight often costs more than a return flight. Such prices can of course be evaded by simply booking a round trip and not using the inbound segment.

Inexpensive one-way tickets, however, are even more attractive if there are any. These are currently offered by Lufthansa, Air Canada and other Star Alliance partners on the route from Paris to Montreal. Tickets are available from €129 with hand luggage + personal item or €179 if you book the fare with 23 kg checked baggage. At Lufthansa and Austrian, frequent flyers with Star Alliance Gold status can also check in a suitcase free of charge in the light fare.

Tickets are even cheaper if you book at an OTA through the Travel-Dealz flight search instead of directly at the airline. Depending on the payment method, flights can then be booked starting at €102. However, rebooking and cancellation can result in additional fees.

There are also attractive prices for open-jaw flights. You could, for instance, buy a Paris – Montreal | New York – Frankfurt flight for as little as €261. More on this in the section open-jaw flights. Among other things, this could be attractive to circumvent the American entry ban. According to the current regulations, anyone who has stayed in Canada for at least 15 days can enter the USA without restrictions (by air).

Info

If you cannot start the trip as planned, the flights can be rebooked. The exact rules, however, vary depending on the airline. At the Lufthansa Group, only the travel date can be changed (while paying the fare difference). Since August 2021, the route can only be changed for an additional fee. The goodwill rules are more interesting if you book with Air Canada. There, you can cancel the tickets free of charge, and then you would get an (unlimitedly valid) flight voucher for future flights with Air Canada (more information).

You can use the following form to book the flights with just a few clicks. Simply select the desired date and then let yourself be forwarded to bookings on Lufthansa.com or at the Travel-Dealz flight search.

You can choose to fly with Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, or Air Canada. The cheapest tickets include a layover in Frankfurt, Zurich, or Vienna. There are also non-stop flights with Air Canada available, but these cost around €15 extra.

The one-way offer is only worthwhile if you come back by other means. Otherwise, it’s best to book the return flight directly for around €260. More on this in the following deal:

Search & Book

According to the Fare Rules, the flights can be booked until August 31, 2021 for departures until June 30, 2022. In fact, there is excellent availability for trips from the end of September until April, as you can see in the calendar above. After that, there will only be non-stop flights for €144.

You can find suitable dates quickly and easily with the help of Google Flights (instructions). You can then book directly with e.g. Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, or Air Canada.

Open Jaw Flights

If you want to book open jaw flights, you have to do so directly on AirCanada.com. Strangely enough, Lufthansa and OTAs charge significantly higher prices.

Info

The best way to search for open-jaw flights is through Google Flights. However, the redirect from Google to Air Canada is defective and only leads to an error message. The following links are therefore only for illustration purposes, you have to enter the routes and travel dates yourself on AirCanada.com.

Information & Tips for Montreal

While Quebec City is the political capital of the province of Quebec, Montreal is the economic and cultural center. At the same time, it is the second largest city in Canada!

Flights to Montreal

Just like Toronto, Montreal is a pretty cheap destination for flights. Air Canada flies non-stop to Frankfurt/Main and Lufthansa flies non-stop from Munich to Montreal. In addition, there are many other connecting flights with stopovers in Europe or Toronto (mostly with Air Canada) as well as via the USA. Return flights for around 300€ (only hand luggage, checked luggage mostly 80-100€ surcharge) are a common sight. However, you should avoid the school holidays – especially the summer holidays! During this period, airfares quickly rise to over 500€ and reach highs of up to 1.000€ for a direct flight in economy class. Do not expect good deals during this time.

Best Time to Travel

The best times to visit Montreal are from March to May or from September to November. Thanks to comparatively mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine, these months are best suited for tourism. If you want to experience the Canadian winter you can also visit between December and February, but at this time you have to deal with weather restrictions.

With the STM Airport Express (bus number 747) you pay $10CAD (approx. 6,70€) – the ticket is also valid on citywide public transit for 24 hours. The travel times by taxi as well as by bus depend strongly on the traffic and can take more than one hour during peak times.
