The total flight time from Copenhagen to Johannesburg is about 14 hours, including the short connection in Zurich. This might differ depending on the travel date. Long-haul flights are operated by Airbus A340 aircraft with the usual 2-4-2 configuration and about 79 cm seat pitch. All seats are equipped with a video screen as well as 110V and USB power outlets.

On some dates, you can also fly in Lufthansa‘s Boeing 747-8 via Frankfurt. These options tend to be slightly more expensive.

Note that the Economy Light Fare does include one piece of hand luggage (55 x 40 x 23 cm, max. 8 kg) plus one personal item (40 x 30 x 10 cm). If you need a checked bag up to 23, the Economy Basic fare starting at DKK 3,463 (~€464) is your best bet.

One possibility is taking the Gautrain, a type of local commuter rail. A trip to the city center takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately 12€. Taking a cab or an Uber runs you about 18€ to 24€.

Immigration & Visa Requirements
