New York & Washington: €1,247 TAP Business Class from Dublin

tap a321 business zweierreihe

Portuguese Star Alliance member TAP is selling cheap business class tickets to New York for those who depart from Dublin, with prices going as low as €1,247. All flights include checked bags, lounge access and priority services. A change of planes in Lisbon is necessary both ways. A downside of this deal is that you have to leave Dublin very early (TAP’s flight departs at 4:30 in the morning) or arrive in New York very late (after 20:00).

Flights to Washington are just €100 more expensive, but come with a similar catch.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to TAP with your selected flight dates. You can also check what OTAs have to offer, as they sell these tickets up to €70 cheaper.

We have omitted itineraries with an overnight layover in Lisbon. Availabilities get even broader if you are willing to spend a night in Portugal on the outbound flight.

With some possible exceptions, these flights will be operated using an Airbus A321neo. All of these planes feature lie-flat seats for maximum comfort on your long haul flight. You can find a review of the product here.

Not too long ago, TAP’s Executive Class was infamously subpar. By now, however, all planes have been equipped with new seats that can be converted into fully flat beds and offer quite a high comfort. The service is also said to be very friendly.

The fare rules for these flights give no sales period. The only restrictions in the fare rules are a minimum stay of 5 days (or one night from Saturday to Sunday). Tickets are available from late September 2023 onwards, with availability getting really good in early 2024. While you can only fly to Washington at the lowest price until March, tickets to New York can be found until May.

You can check the exact availability of this deal using our calendar above or on Google Flights. Our calendar will redirect you to TAP’s booking site.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
