Secret Escapes is once again offering a cheap hotel in the EU’s capital, Brussels. Accordingly, this hotel is even called Thon Hotel EU, and merely costs £85 (~€99) – only if you book on Secret Escapes. You would be staying in a Club Double room – but don’t expect there to actually be a club involved, it’s just a name. However, the rooms are larger than the standard room, measuring roughly 27 square metres instead of the usual 20.
The rate includes breakfast, and you’ll also be able to take advantage of a late check-out until 15:00. You’ll also be able to cancel and get a refund up to 8 days before arrival. While the price of £85 (~€99) is only valid if you stay at least 2 nights, the surcharge for only staying one night is really not high, as you’d only pay £4 (~€5) more.
Most of the available dates are in August 2022 – perfect for you to spend a couple of days of your summer holiday in the Belgian capital.
The Hotel
The Thon Hotel EU is a colourful 4-star hotel that has a spa, a bar, a fitness centre, a restaurant, and 24-hr room service. It is located very close to the Cinquantenaire and the Museum of Natural Sciences and is only a 16-minute drive away from Brussels Airport. The rooms are said to have very good beds.
Previous guests have left very good reviews, many of them praising the amazing breakfast (which is usually very expensive – good that it’s included in this deal), the large rooms, how clean everything was, the quiet atmosphere, and the excellent Wi-Fi.
The hotel is located in the Leopold Quarter neighbourhood, meaning that many famous sights are close by, such as the Royal Palace of Brussels, which is only a 15-minute walk away. You’ll also be close to many public transportation options, such as the Kunst-Wet subway station less than 10 minutes from the hotel, from where you can get to further-away sights like the Atomium in roughly 25 minutes. You’re also only 5 minutes away from Station Brussel-Schuman, from where you can take a train that leaves you at the airport in roughly 15 minutes. There should also be quite a few restaurants close to the hotel, even if other areas of Brussels may offer better options.
Price Check
As stated before, breakfast at this hotel is great, but also very expensive. As this rate includes breakfast, that already puts you at quite an advantage. If you book a Club Double room on other websites, such as booking.com, you’ll quickly end up paying roughly €185 for a refundable rate with breakfast. That would mean that Secret Escapes is charging approx. 45% less.
On some dates, you’d save even more, e.g. on August 6-8, booking.com is charging €203 per night, while Secret Escapes would still charge you about half of that, the price sticking to £85 (~€99) per night.
