British Airways Club: Award Chart Devaluation on December 15

Once again, it’s that time of year. Unfortunately not just for the holidays, but for devaluations too. After a 2025 full of devaluations adjustments, it seems the British Airways Club now wants to wrap things up with another change.

On December 15, British Airways will adjust the award prices for flights operated by both British Airways and partner airlines. Since the British Airways Club no longer publishes an award chart, we currently have to rely on the examples BA has provided. It appears that, overall, mileage requirements will increase by around 10% and surcharges by 10–15%.

Examples from British Airways

These are the example values BA has given for the new mileage prices. Note that they list only the options that require the lowest possible number of miles. Especially for European flights, these are often not the most attractive redemption choices. Unfortunately, BA does not provide examples for Oneworld partners.

London – Geneva (off-peak, one-way)

  • Economy Class
    • Before: 9,250 Avios + €1
    • After: 10,000 Avios + €2
  • Business Class
    • Before: 15,000 Avios + €25
    • After: 16,500 Avios + €30

London – New York (off-peak, return)

  • Economy Class
    • Before: 50,000 Avios + €200
    • After: 55,000 Avios + €240
  • Premium Economy Class
    • Before: 85,000 Avios + €610
    • After: 93,500 Avios + €680
  • Business Class
    • Before: 100,000 Avios + €750
    • After: ? + €820*
  • First Class
    • Before: 136,000 Avios + (not stated)
    • After: 150,000 Avios + (not stated)

* BA made an error in the published press release regarding these prices.

Important: If you have an award booking made before December 15, the price will be recalculated if you change any of the following:

  1. Destination
  2. Cabin class
  3. Season (switching between off-peak and peak)

Upgrade prices for award upgrades will also increase accordingly from December 15.

Info

According to the FAQ on the BA website, you should still be able to book flights speculatively now and later change the date for €42.50, as long as the above criteria remain unchanged.

Conclusion

After 17 months, it’s happening again: British Airways is increasing the prices for award flights. This time, both mileage requirements and surcharges for all flights bookable through the British Airways Club are affected. It’s currently unclear whether you can still book at the old prices through the other Avios programs from Qatar, Finnair, or Iberia.

So if you still have Avios lying around, you may want to consider redeeming them by December 14. Especially since Avios programs tend to devalue quite frequently.
