Kyoto is one of the most beautiful, historic cities in Japan. But it’s also always very pricey. Thankfully, LuxuryEscapes has a good deal for the city, letting you stay at the 5-star Fauchon Hotel Kyoto – a French-inspired member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The price is fixed at €243 per night (between January and September 2026, excluding April), including breakfast, around €50 hotel credit, and some more extras. The rooms are large, especially for Japanese standards, measuring almost 40 m2. The only condition is that you need to stay for at least 3 nights. But from personal experience, 3 nights are a good fit for Kyoto anyways.

Please note that despite the partnership between the Small Luxury Hotels of the World with Hilton, by booking through LuxuryEscapes, you’ll enjoy no Hilton status benefits, nor will you earn any points.

Previous guests have left very good reviews of the hotel (e.g. 4.5/5 on Google, with over 400 reviews), many praising the helpful staff, the well-designed rooms, the amazing breakfast, the artist’s flair, the great beds, and the perfect, fabulous location. We couldn’t find any recurring points of criticism.

The hotel is in Kyoto’s Shimogyo Ward near the Kawaramachi and Kiyomizu-Gojo areas, within walking distance of Kyoto’s central shopping streets, restaurants and several cultural sites such as the Samurai & Ninja Museum and the Kamogawa River. It’s about a 10-minute walk from major transit points like Kiyomizu-Gojo Station on the Keihan Line and close to bus stops that connect you across the city, making it a practical base for exploring Kyoto’s historic districts.

Price Check

The hotel is cheapest in winter. Even then, the hotel charges around €350 per night for a Superior room with breakfast. Hilton even charges even more on its website: over €420 – without breakfast!

The cheapest OTA (Hotels.com) charges at least €279 per night – also without breakfast. Breakfast costs over €30, so you’ll easily surpass the €300-mark. In other words, even in off-season, you’re saving at least 25% by booking through LuxuryEscapes. The savings are even higher later in the year.

Information & Tips for Japan

Japan offers a blend of modern cities and natural beauty, with highlights including Tokyo’s bustling urban landscape, Kyoto’s historic temples, Mount Fuji, and the hot springs of Hakone. The currency is the Japanese yen (JPY), and credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, though cash is still common in rural regions. Japan can be pricey, especially in cities, with high costs for accommodation and dining, but budget options are available. The weather varies by region: summers are hot and humid, while winters can be cold, particularly in the north. The best time to visit is typically during spring (for cherry blossoms) or autumn (for fall foliage).

Japan’s transport infrastructure is highly efficient and easy to navigate. In cities like Tokyo and Osaka, the metro and train systems are extensive, punctual, and relatively easy to use, though they can get crowded during peak hours. Buses and taxis are also available, but less convenient for tourists. For intercity travel, Japan’s Shinkansen (bullet trains) are fast, comfortable, and reliable, though more expensive than other options. Buses and domestic flights are also available for longer distances, but trains remain the preferred choice for many travellers due to speed and convenience.
