New York: €936pp Oneworld Business Class from Sweden (Partnersale)

British Airways Club Suite Seat 3

Oneworld airlines American, British Airways and Finnair have issued a very interesting fare for flights from Swedish cities Gothenborg and Stockholm to New York’s JFK airport. You may cross the Atlantic twice in a business class cabin for just SEK 9,767 (~€883) twice – as long as you are willing to purchase at least two tickets.

This fare includes lounge access, priority services and fully reclinable lie-flat seats, no matter which airline you choose. While Finnair’s new nonstop service between Stockholm and New York might be the most appealing option, you can as well select to earn more miles and add a stop in London or Helsinki.

Info

British Airways allows you to cancel all flights starting before August 31, 2022, in exchange for a voucher. You can use that voucher for booking made up until September 30, 2023. It cannot be exchanged for a monetary refund, though.

Our availability calendar previews all possible flight dates at the lowest fare for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to British Airways’ website or our flight search with your preselected flight dates.

You may also find departures at the same fare from Gothenburg. However, nonstop flights are only possible from Stockholm.

Routings & Equipment

While the nonstop flight with Finnair might be most appealing to most passengers, you can also find connecting flights via Helsinki or London for just a little more. These give you the opportunity to try other business class cabins (like American or British Airways) and collect additional miles or flight segments.

Finnair, the Oneworld member from Northern Europe, offers a very modern and spacious business class with its new Airlounge seat. Most expectations are met on a good level, except for the sitting comfort as the seats cannot be reclined. Either you’re sitting straight up, or you’re lying fully-flat – there is no in-between. Another remarkable thing about Finnair is that they have a Light fare, which doesn’t include luggage!

British Airways was one of the first airlines to offer lie-flat seats – over 20 years ago. And they still continue to be up to date with the newest trends, each seat offering direct access to the aisle. Their best seats are the Club Suites that offer a lot of privacy – but the older seats are fine as well. A general downside at British Airways: there is no free seat reservation, which is unusual for a business class.

Even if American Airlines doesn’t enjoy a good reputation for many, its business class is very good. Every seat on wide-body planes has direct access to the aisle and the service, as well as the food and the seat, are at a very high standard. Travel-Dealz founder Johannes tested the Boeing 777 and really enjoyed the flight.

This fare remains valid until March 1, 2022 for departures between February 8 and April 10, 2022. You need to stay at least one night from Saturday until Sunday at your destination to get the lowest price. Availability is fairly good during the travel period.

You can use Google Flights to find additional flight dates. We strongly recommend booking directly with British Airways to benefit from their rebooking policy, among other reasons.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
