Flying Blue Status Match for Canadian and Most European Residents Starting at £68/€59

Air France and KLM’s joint frequent flyer program is currently offering a paid status match for residents of select European countries, such as the United Kingdom, Italy or Germany. Canadian residents can apply, too. Prices start at €59 for EU or £68 for UK residents when matching to Flying Blue Silver. A gold match comes at the cost of €199.

To secure this status match, you’ll need a corresponding status level. For instance, Silver at the British Airways Executive Club can be matched to Gold at Flying Blue, and Senator status at Lufthansa Miles&More can be aligned with Platinum.

The process typically takes three business days to be approved. Once approved, you will have the status with Flying Blue in your account within about five business days, and it will be active for twelve months. During this time, you will need to follow the guidelines of the points program to maintain your status with the airline.

To initiate the status match, you will need to pay an application fee, the price of which depends on the status you wish to apply for.

• €59 or £69 for Flying Blue Silver (= SkyTeam Elite)
• €199 (~£171) for Flying Blue Gold (= SkyTeam Elite Plus)
• €399 (~£343) for Flying Blue Platinum (= SkyTeam Elite Plus)

Canadians get charged a little less for this match, as the prices in Euro are converted 1:1 to Canada Dollar.

Instructions

Go to flyingblue.statusmatch.com and enter your name, e-mail address and Flying Blue membership number. If you don’t have a Flying Blue account, you need to sign up for the program first.

If the data matches your account and your country of residency is eligible for the match, you can select the status you want to match. There is a drop-down menu that you can choose from. If your status is not part of that list, Flying Blue won’t match it.

The next step requires you to upload photographic proof of your current status. A photo of a physical card or a screenshot showing your name, number and status will do the trick.

The following and last step is the payment page. Flying Blue displays which status you’ll achieve with the match and presents you the bill. You can pay by all common credit cards.
