American Airlines and United Airlines are currently offering a very attractive one-way fare from Seoul, South Korea to the USA for only US$225 (~€192). Departures are available from May to June and September to December.
However, this is for the Basic Economy fare if you book with American Airlines, which includes only carry-on luggage and a personal item by default. For elite status customers, this is not a significant obstacle: Oneworld Ruby members get 1x 23 kg of baggage, Sapphire members receive 2x 23 kg, and Emerald members receive as much as 3x 23 kg of baggage. All other passengers can add a suitcase at the check-in counter for €70.
Star Alliance member United Airlines matches prices for some of these routes, also including 23 kg of baggage.
A roundtrip flight from Seoul to the USA and back is available at US$366 (~€312). However, if you don’t live in South Korea, the one-way tickets are more likely to be attractive as part of a round-the-world trip.
Here’s an overview of cheaper one-way tickets:

- Seoul → Los Angeles at US$225 (~€192)
- Seoul → Las Vegas at US$258 (~€220)

You can book with American Airlines or Momondo (which also finds United flights) using the following form.

American Airlines exclusively flies from Dallas to Seoul. Therefore, all connections include at least one, sometimes two stopovers. AA operates the long-haul flights with their Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In Economy, there is a seat pitch of 79 cm and the (unfortunately) typical 3-3-3 seating arrangement.
With United Airlines you will fly via San Francisco on their Boeing 777 with a 3-4-3 seating arrangement and a seat pitch of 78 cm.
Search & Book
This deal will expire on August 4, 2024. Departures are available from May to June and September to December 2024
With American Airlines for the date search, neither Google Flights nor the Matrix are of much help in this case. The tickets can be most easily found and booked on the American Arilines’ website. At least there is a flexible search +/- 3 days, which makes the search for dates a bit easier.

For United Airlines flights, you can use Google Flights to find the best price, we recommend you to book direct from United Airlines’ website.

Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
