We have often reported about the upcoming switch of Scandinavian Airlines to the SkyTeam alliance. The moment is now drawing closer: August 31 will be SAS’s last day in the Star Alliance. Starting September 1, the new partners will include e.g. Air France and KLM.
An interesting development was mentioned today as a side note in the SAS newsletter. The partnership with Singapore Airlines is set to continue even after SAS leaves the Star Alliance. It will still be possible to earn SAS points on flights with Singapore Airlines:

There was no mention in the email about redeeming EuroBonus points for Singapore Airlines flights. However, it is intriguing that the announcement mentioned that selected frequent flyer benefits will return later in the year.
As of this afternoon, the SAS page regarding the partnership with Singapore Airlines still contained the following note:
Please note that the last day you can earn points is 31 August 2024.
This passage has since disappeared. However, regarding the redemption of miles, it is still mentioned that bookings must be made by August 31. The trip can take place later, but may no longer be rebooked if necessary.
Conclusion
Actually, SAS and Singapore Airlines do not have many touchpoints, as SAS’s presence in Asia is quite limited. The partnership is likely primarily aimed at enabling Singapore Airlines to cover almost every corner of Scandinavia with SAS feeder flights.
For passengers of SAS and Singapore Airlines, the more partnerships, the better. Let’s see if there will be similar collaborations between SAS and other Star Alliance airlines.

Yesterday I saw flights with connections by LOT Polish Airlines and SAS together. So, it’s interesting how will be possible collecting the points in EuroBonus or miles in LOT’s M&M.
