The internationally operating shipping company MSC Cruises has had its own loyalty program, the MSC Voyagers Club, for many years, which rewards members with a certain number of points for each cruise (depending on the cruise length and booked category). Now, some changes have been made to the benefits of this program. The most important new feature is the introduction of a new membership tier.
New Membership Tier Blue Diamond
From now on, there are a total of six different membership tiers in the Voyagers Club. The previous club levels (Welcome, Classic, Silver, Gold, and Diamond) will be retained. However, a new membership level, Blue Diamond, has now been added for MSC’s most loyal customers. To achieve this status, 25,000 points are now required. The previously highest membership level (Diamond) will continue to be awarded once you reach 10,000 points.
The following benefits are exclusively available to members at the Blue Diamond tier (these privileges are therefore not available to all lower tiers):
- Flexible arrival time at the port
- Baggage drop-off at the MSC Yacht Club
- Access to the MSC Yacht Club check-in area (subject to port operations)
- Free shuttle bus ticket between the port and the city centre (subject to availability)
- “Behind the Scenes” tour (only on ships and routes where this tour is offered)
- Free “Browse” Internet package
- My Choice Dining (flexible dining times in the main restaurant)
- Private Meet & Greet with the captain or an MSC officer
Validity Period Extended from 3 to 5 Years
Previously, a cruise had to be taken at least every three years to maintain the current status and avoid losing points. With these changes, the validity period is now extended to five years, which is a positive development. When booking a cruise, you must always provide your club number to ensure points are correctly allocated.
If you have not (re)travelled with MSC within five years, your points and membership number will be deleted. Although re-registration is possible at any time, you will start collecting points again from scratch. After the end of a cruise, the validity of the points and the corresponding club level will be extended by another five years.
Discounts Now Partially Available to New Members
Previously, at least one cruise with MSC had to be taken to move from Welcome to Classic status. This rule will still apply to receive the 5% club discount. However, new customers who have never travelled with MSC can now receive a discount of up to 15% on cruises under the so-called MSC Voyagers Selection.
To book these trips, an MSC Voyagers Club number is required. Currently, we have not yet found any available trips. It is expected that these will be released shortly and will be available for booking for a limited time.
