Star Alliance member LOT Polish Airlines currently sells discounted premium economy tickets from Stockholm to Chicago for €760 with one overnight stay in some dates. Departures are scattered between September to December.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to LOT with your selected flight dates. You can also check what OTAs have to offer, as they sell these tickets up to €15 cheaper.

All itineraries require a change of planes in Warsaw both ways. Flights between Sweden and Poland are economy class services. LOT’s long-haul fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft handles the long trips over the Atlantic Ocean.
LOT’s premium economy seats look like they are 50 years old. Nevertheless, LOT does have a few advantages. The seats are very wide, the recline is fantastic, you enjoy all priority services at the airport (except lounge access), and you even get better service on the short-haul feeders. The recline however can also be a downside, as you’ll basically have the person in front of you on your lap (which is why reserving the bulkhead seats may be a wise decision). Another strange feature: The inflight entertainment screen is not on the back of the seat, but has to be taken out of the armrest. Also, LOT has no wifi, not even for a charge.
Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$21 (~€18) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, these tickets are on sale without an expiration date. A minimum stay of six days or one night from Saturday to Sunday is necessary to get the cheapest tickets. Departures are scattered between September to December.
Google Flights shows you additional flight dates. Please be aware that the tool also displays flights to Los Angeles for €747, but prices increase after choosing flight dates. We recommend buying tickets directly on LOT’s website.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.

Chicago is known for its architecture, museums, and lakefront, with highlights like Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Willis Tower. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and credit cards are widely accepted. Prices can be high, especially for accommodation and dining in central areas, though there are budget options. The weather is variable—summers are warm and humid, winters are cold with snow, and spring and fall are unpredictable, so packing layers is advised.
