The Best 2024 Black Week Hotel Deals

Black Week 2022 Hotels EU

In this article, we take a closer look at the discounts hotel chains all over the world offer in the week before and after American Thanksgiving. We have done the same for airlines and cruises.

Update

We updated this article one last time last night. We’ve marked the additions with *NEW* in the headline.

Strawberry Hotels: Fixed Prices at €85 per Night

Strawberry Hotels Logo

Strawberry Hotels (fka Nordic Choice Hotels) offers fixed prices in Denmark (DKK 1,000 (~€134)), Norway (NOK 1,000 (~€85)) and Sweden (SEK 1,000 (~€91)). The rates in question are prepaid and non-refundable. You can book the offer until December 1, 2024, for stays until May 5, 2025.

We have covered the offer in detail here.

Bottom line: With discounts of up to 50% compared to the regular room rate, this offer stands out compared to other offers. However, we strongly recommend comparing rates, as there are also cases where the special rate is more expensive than the regular rate. That and the lack of refundability are the major downsides here.

Scandic Hotels: Discounted Prices Starting at €62 per Night

scandic hotels logo

Similar to Strawberry Hotel’s offer, Northern European competitor Scandic Hotels offers a special rate as their Black Week Special. While the travel period is a bit shorter (December 13, 2024, until March 24, 2025), prices are also lower. Rooms are available in Denmark (DKK 790 (~€106)), Norway (NOK 990 (~€84)), Finland (€84), Poland PLN 404 (~€95), Germany (€134) and Sweden (SEK 680 (~€62)). While the quoted prices apply only to the lowest room category in select hotels, larger rooms are discounted as well. We took a closer look at this offer here.

Bottom line: Just like Strawberry, savings can be as high as 50% on the regular room rates, with the downsides being lack of flexibility and only regional availability.

Barcelo Hotels: 15% Discount on All Hotels Until December 2025

Barcelo Hotels Logo

Barcelo Hotels & Resorts issued a 15% discount code for its European hotels. Until December 1, 2024, you can get the discount without minimum spending or significant limitations on the travel period.

Bottom line: Barcelo has tidied up its presentation and doesn’t make obnoxious promises about a wild number of discounts anymore. The 15% off is a straightforward promise that holds true. A decent deal.

IHG: 20% Discount for Giving Up Flexibility

IHG logo new background

IHG’s offer is a bit sneaky: The chain promises a 25% discount. But the 5% discount for IHG One Rewards is permanent and the remaining 20% is available on flexible rates (with or without breakfast), which in turn become prepaid and non-refundable. You can score the discount until December 3 for stays until April.

Bottom line: This is a middle-of-the-pack deal. It has decent value but is not uncommon. The fact the rates are no longer flexible makes it more interesting for short-term stays.

Radisson Hotels: ~15% Discount on Non-Refundable Rates with Breakfast

Radisson Hotels Logo

Radisson promises up to 35% discount on non-refundable rates including breakfast. Sadly, the discount does not exceed 15% in most cases. The travel period is decent (until December 31, 2025) and Radisson Rewards members can earn 3,000 when booking the rate. You can find our analysis of the offer here.

Bottom line: This offer by Radisson is slightly better than the previous sales they’ve offered. However, while the travel period is quite generous and overall availability is quite ok, the rates are non-refundable. That offsets the long travel period, as prepaid offers get very unattractive once the stays are four or more months away.

H10 Hotels: Up to 30% Discount On Freshly Increased Rates

H10 Hotels Logo

Spanish hotel chain H10 Hotels is usually one of the under-the-radar coupons on our sites, regularly offering transparent discount codes that give a flat amount off all rates and room types. This time, they promise up to 30% off, compared to the regular 10% or 15%.

Bottom line: A highly volatile offer. While the discounts are higher than usual, so are the undiscounted rates. In some instances, you got a better deal when applying their 10% discount code a couple of days ago than the 30% code during Black Week. In others, we got the best prices in weeks.

Choice Hotels: Buy Points with 60% Bonus *NEW*

Choice Privileges Logo

This promotion is not about discounted room rates, but still too good to leave it. Choice usually has two outstanding point sales per year, and this is one of them. If you use the points the right way (and we show you how), you can save up up 70% compared to regular room rates. The sale runs until December 13.

Bottom line: Point sales are usually something for experts, not beginners. Those who feel comfortable with it can actually save a lot.

Meliá: Discounted Hotels, e.g. in Spain *NEW*

Melia Hotels Logo

Meliá operates more than 300 hotels worldwide, the majority of them in Spain. During Black Week, discounts of up to 50% are being offered on selected hotels. The prices are available until December 1, 2024, for travel until April or December 2025, depending on the hotel. All rates are non-refundable.

For instance, in April, a double room at the Sol Barbados in Mallorca starts at €63 with breakfast (or €84 with half-board). According to Trivago, this represents a savings of about 30%, but compared to the next best price on Google Hotels, it’s only about 13% cheaper.

Bottom line: Not all hotels are a bargain; some can even be booked more cheaply through third-party providers than directly with Meliá. However, when using the overview of participating hotels as a guide, the prices seem quite reasonable.

H-Hotels: “40% Discount” on Flexible Rates *NEW*

H Hotels Logo

While the claim of 40% can be easily debunked, H-Hotels does give a decent discount on flexible rates that remain flexible during the promotion. You can book until December 4 for stays in 2024 and 2025.

Bottom line: We are under the impression that some prices have been artificially inflated. Rooms that were previously €150 are suddenly tagged with €200 sans the discount. That doesn’t mean there are no bargains to be made. For example, a €100 room at the Hyperion Munich is certainly not a bad deal.

CitizenM: 30% Discount on the Flex-Rate *NEW*

citizenM Logo

CitizenM now operates over 30 hotels worldwide, typically located in city centres or near airports. The hotels offer very small but modernly equipped rooms. During Black Week, there’s a 30% discount on the flexible rate—which can still be cancelled up to 24 hours before arrival. The offer is bookable until December 4 for stays between December 15 and March 31, 2025.

Bottom line: The 30% discount on the flexible rate is genuinely fair, making it a good deal. However, those who don’t stay regularly at CitizenM might be better off booking through Hotels.com or similar platforms to collect rewards. The Black Week offer is available at the same price through third-party providers.

H Rewards: ~ 25% on Non-Flex Rates with Breakfast *NEW*

H Rewards Logo

The H Rewards loyalty program is likely unfamiliar to most (and may even cause confusion with H-Hotels). However, brands like Steigenberger and InterCity Hotel are much better known. They advertise discounts of 45%, though the realistic savings are closer to 25%—and even that only applies if you were already planning to book the non-refundable rate with breakfast.

The offer is valid at over 80 hotels worldwide, bookable until December 2, 2024, for stays through March 2025, and only available online.

Bottom line: The advertised 45% discount relies on the typical apples-to-oranges comparison we’ve come to expect from Steigenberger. Why compare a non-flexible rate to a flexible one instead of other prepaid rates? Once the frustration over this fades, the deal turns out to be fairly decent.

Marriott: Discounted Weekend Rates *NEW*

Marriott Bonvoy Logo

For bookings until December 3, Marriott promises a 15% discount on the flexible rate for weekend stays. You can only get that number when you are a Marriott Bonvoy member and booking with their app. Sadly, the promotional rate is no longer refundable. To make things worse, the travel period ends in January 2025.

Bottom line: A short travel period, a measly discount and a prepaid rate. This offer is bad and it should feel bad.

Falkensteiner: 35% Discount for Giving Up Flexibility *NEW*

Falkensteiner Logo

The Falkensteiner Group operates 26 hotels in Austria, Italy, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and the Balkans, including several in Austria located directly near ski resorts. Until Monday, the non-refundable rate is 35% less than the regular flexible rate.

The deal is bookable until December 2. The discounted rates are only visible after creating a free account in the Spirit Club.

Bottom line: To be fair, the advertised 35% discount isn’t entirely accurate, as it comes at the cost of forfeiting all flexibility. Even without this promotion, the standard prepaid rates already offer up to 20% discounts for members. Still, it’s a good deal if you’re looking for a high-end (family) hotel.

Meininger Hotels: 15% Coupon *NEW*

Meininger Hotels Logo

Meininger operates budget hotels and hostels in several European countries. For Black Week, a 15% discount is available on non-refundable and flexible rates using the promo code BLACK15. For instance, you can book a private double room near BER Airport (5 minutes on foot + 11 minutes by S-Bahn) for around €50 with a cancellation option. The offer is valid for bookings until December 1, 2024, for stays through March 2025.

Bottom line: Compared to other booking platforms, the actual discount amounts to a realistic 10% to 15%. A transparent discount, albeit not a particularly high one.

HRS Deals: Many Discounted Hotels in Germany & Austria *NEW*

HRS Logo

As part of the HRS Deals, selected hotels are discounted every week. For Black Week, there’s a particularly extensive selection, with 16 hotels ranging from Rügen to Austria. Examples include the Park Hotel in Bergen for €79 including breakfast or The Wellem (by Hyatt) in Düsseldorf for €205 including breakfast. Cancellations are not allowed. The offers are bookable until December 4, with the travel period mostly limited to the winter months.

Bottom line: The claimed discounts of over 50% can safely be ignored. However, many of the prices are still quite reasonable.

Yotel: Discounted Non-Flex Rates *NEW*

Yotel Logo

Yotel secures one of the last spots on our list—and rightly so, as the offer is nothing special, just standard fare. The advertised discount applies to the flexible rate, but the offer is non-refundable. In practice, you can save around 20% to 24%, but the rate is prepaid and non-changeable. The offer is valid until December 4, 2024, for stays through the end of 2025.

Bottom line: At first glance, many of the hotels are so expensive that even with a discount, they aren’t appealing. Additionally, the rate is non-refundable, and in locations like New York, exorbitant fees are added during booking. This deal is only worth considering where alternatives are limited—such as at airports.

Steigenberger & InterCity Hotel: 15% Discount on Gift Cards *NEW*

Steigenberger

During Black Week, H Rewards offers gift vouchers with a 15% discount, which can be redeemed at Steigenberger, InterCity Hotels, Jaz in the City, and Maxx Hotels. The vouchers are valid for three years and can also be used in hotel restaurants. The offer is available until December 8, 2024.

Bottom line: The same offer as in previous years and overall a solid deal—provided you can find affordable hotel rates to combine it with.

Snowtrex: Discounted Ski Trips, incl. Ski Pass *NEW*

SnowTrex Logo

According to its own claims, Snowtrex is offering up to €150 off per person on the next ski holiday during White Friday Week. They advertise a week, including a ski pass, starting at just €149 per person (understandably during the off-season). The offer is bookable until December 5, 2024.

However, when you factor in the costs for bed linens, towels, and final cleaning, at least an additional €200 is added to the advertised €900. Plus, fitting six people into a 32 m² apartment will likely be a tight squeeze. So, the promotional prices shouldn’t be taken at face value.

Bottom line: Price transparency doesn’t seem to be Snowtrex’s strong suit. Even mandatory fees like tourist taxes and non-refundable key card charges are not included in the stated prices. That said, the prices still seem attractively low when you consider the included ski pass.

Accor: Buy Gift Cards with 15% Bonus *NEW & EXPIRED*

Accor ALL Logo

A classic black week offer, as Accor sells gift cards with increased value almost every year around this time. In 2024, the bonus is a bit lower (15% instead of 20%), but the redemption period remains the same: After purchase, you have three years to redeem the card in one of more than 1,500 Accor hotels in Europe. Gift cards are on sale on November 29 only.

Bottom line: While it is a decent deal, the current ALL Signature subscription gives you much better chances to save on hotels.

Paradores Hoteles: Discounted Gift Boxes (=Prepaid Vouchers) for Spanish Hotels *EXPIRED*

Paradores Logo

Paradores Hoteles is a state-owned hotel chain in Spain. The properties include unusual locations like old castles or palace buildings. Prices are unsurprisingly higher than regular hotels. During their black week sale, you can buy prepaid packages called Gift Boxes and get a decent discount, like two nights including breakfast for €272 or half-board at €368.

These boxes are valid for two years and can be redeemed on stays between October and May. The offer ends on Friday.

Bottom line: The gift boxes offer decent value – even dinner alone can be very expensive in these exclusive establishments. Other shops offer the boxes for similar prices.

B&B Hotels: 10% Discount on Flex-Rates in 5 Countries *EXPIRED*

B&B Hotels Logo

B&B Hotels offers a discount code that gives 10% off Flex-Rates, it can be applied to stays in Germany, Czechia, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom up until December 2025. The code is valid until November 29, 2024.

Bottom line: A decent discount, that is sadly limited to specific countries. While the UK is a nice addition compared to last year, France and Spain are still missing. At least the travel period is long and the rates remain refundable.
