british airways first

Oneworld partners British Airways and American Airlines are offering discounted first class tickets from Lisbon, starting at €3,049 to New York. Eight other American airports are discounted, as well. Availability depends on the destination, though it’s generally good in late 2025 and early 2026.

Tickets include business class flights from Lisbon to London and First Class flights across the pond in both directions. In addition, you get three check bags up to 32 kg each and access to British Airways’ dedicated First Class lounge in Heathrow.

You can fly to the following airports for less than €3,200:

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates for less than €3,200; for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to British Airways with your selected flight dates. If the reduced tickets are no longer available, you can usually find discounted departures a couple of days earlier or later.

You would always first fly to London in British Airways’ business class. From there, you fly directly to the USA. Usually, your transatlantic flight would be operated by British Airways, with American costing a bit more.

British Airways First Class

British Airways’ first class is not as glamorous as its Middle Eastern or Asian competitors. On the other hand, it’s often offered for prices that are not very far from what others charge for business class. All tickets include a 3x 32 kg baggage allowance, access to first class lounges (where available) and exquisite catering.

The seats are 1.98 m long and also more spacious than those in the new business class Club Suite. However, there are only doors in the latest product on board a few of the Boeing 777 planes. Depending on the type of aircraft, the cabin consists of 8 to 14 first class seats.

American Airlines First Class

At American Airlines, there is only a real first class named Flagship First in the Boeing 777-300. The alignment is like in business class (1-2-1) and otherwise, the seat is (unfortunately) more reminiscent of a good business class, but at least it is a lot more spacious. The swivel function of the seat is quite unique so that you can look straight ahead through the window during the flight.

Especially the soft product still has a lot of room for improvement. Here are a few relevant reviews:

Visa Info

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$21 (~€19) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.

There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

Discounted First Class tickets to New York and Miami are also available with departure from Stockholm:

The fare rules give no expiration date for this deal. In order to get the lowest price, you need to stay at least three days or one night from Saturday to Sunday at your destination. Availability depends on the destination, though it’s generally good in late 2025 and early 2026.

Google Flights previews most available flight dates correctly. We recommend buying first class tickets directly from the airline.

Information & Tips for USA

The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.

The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.

    “26,946 Points on Finnair Plus”

Finnair Plus uses Avios and tier points. Perhaps you could update this accordingly.
