Luxair Student Discount: Book the Youth Fare and Save Up to €40 (For All Travellers Aged 12-24)

Luxembourg‘s largest passenger airline Luxair has introduced a new fare type, specifically aimed at passengers 12 to 24 years old. When booking a Smart or Flex fare, the base fare is lowered by €10 to oneway or €20 for round-trip tickets in economy class. Business class round-trips enjoy a €40 discount. The discount is valid on all flights and does not need an extra code, as it has been implemented in their booking system.

Terms & Conditions

The terms & conditions for this offer are transparent and easy to understand:

• Travellers aged 12 to 24 enjoy a fixed discount on the airfare:
  • €10 discount on economy class oneway tickets
  • €20 discount on economy class round-trip tickets
  • €40 discount on business class round-trip tickets
• Economy Light tickets (booking class W) are not eligible for the discount.

Luxair does not mention a travel or sales period for this offer on its promotional page.

To check the discount, we checked out a roundtrip from Luxembourg to Porto in late November 2025. When booking the Economy Smart fare (including a 23kg checked bag), the offer for youth travellers was €20 cheaper than the same ticket for an adult:

The Light fare for this flight prices out at €88, but does not include checked luggage. So you are basically getting a checked 23kg bag and free seat selection for €10, which is not a bad deal.

Bottom Line

If Luxair keeps the price difference between Light and Smart fares as low as it is, this is actually a worthwhile offer. In most cases, you save money on a checked bag. In contrast to other airlines, Luxair’s offer makes already cheap tickets more attractive. This discount for business class flights is laughable compared to standard pricing, but most members of the target audience won’t go for that travel class, anyway.
