Perth, Australia: €2,676 Air Mauritius Business Class from Budapest (Long Mauritius Layover, Stopover Possible)

Air Mauritius is not an airline that we regularly report on at Travel-Dealz. Currently, the small island airline cooperates with Air France to offer business class flights from Budapest to Perth in Western Australia with prices starting at €2,676. Departures are available between June and August 2025.

On the outbound journey, a longer layover (at least 11 hours) in Mauritius is required. However, you can also add multiple days for a stopover there for a small additional fee, which is likely the more attractive option.

If you just want to go to Australia, there are also occasional connections with Austrian Airlines and Thai Airways, starting at €3,049.

First, you’ll fly Air France business class from Budapest to Paris. There, as is standard within Europe, the adjacent seat is kept free. Otherwise, the product is similar to economy class with better catering. You will then complete the long-haul flight from Paris to Mauritius (almost 12h) aboard an Airbus A350.

Afterwards, you’ll have a layover in Mauritius between 11 and 16 hours (during the day). If desired, a multi-day stopover is possible. Those who don’t want to spend the entire time in the airport lounge can enter Mauritius visa-free and explore the island before continuing to Perth on an Airbus A330neo (flight time approx. 7h). On the return journey, the transfer in Mauritius takes only about 5 hours in the best case.

The onboard product in the Airbus A350 and A330neo is almost identical. Air Mauritius uses Stelia Solsyts III type seats on both aircraft. They are arranged in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration, meaning every seat has direct aisle access. In lie-flat mode, they convert into an approx. 1.93m long bed. For those travelling in pairs, there are ‘true’ double seats directly next to each other; for solo travellers, there are window seats with plenty of privacy.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Stopover in Mauritius

Since you’re already flying via Mauritius, it makes sense to include a stopover there. Especially since there’s already a layover of at least 11 hours anyway. Fortunately, this is possible, but the price increases to around €2,904. Here is an example with a one-week stay in Mauritius:
