In September 2024, SAS Scandinavian left the Star Alliance and joined SkyTeam. Even before this transition, the Scandinavian airline had already announced that its partnership with Singapore Airlines would continue.
Initially, the cooperation only included reciprocal earning of frequent flyer miles. Now, there is more good news in the form of reciprocal status benefits. SAS EuroBonus frequent flyers now receive benefits such as lounge access and additional baggage allowance when flying with Singapore Airlines. Similarly, Singapore KrisFlyer status members enjoy comparable perks when flying with SAS.
Benefits for EuroBonus Members on Singapore Airlines
EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members enjoy the following benefits when travelling with Singapore Airlines:
- Access to SilverKris Lounges in BKK, BNE, HKG, LHR, MNL, PER, ICN, SIN, SYD, TPE (including 1 guest)
- 20 kg additional checked baggage
- Priority check-in
- Priority baggage handling
- Earning of status and award points (see mileage chart)
Priority boarding(currently “paused”)
Note on Lounge Access:
Lounge access is also available when flying with SAS, which could be of interest for departures from London, Bangkok, and Seoul (a new route starting in September 2025). Additionally, the SilverKris Lounges in Singapore are specifically mentioned. Typically, even Star Alliance Gold members are only granted access to the less exclusive KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. It’s therefore possible this is an error.
Benefits for KrisFlyer Members Flying with SAS
Frequent flyers with Singapore Airlines holding KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club, or Solitaire PPS Club status receive the following benefits when travelling with SAS:
- Access to SAS Business Lounges in CPH, OSL, ARN, GOT, ORD, EWR (guest policy unclear)
- Additional baggage allowance:
- 23 kg in Economy Class
- 23 kg in Business Class within Europe
- 32 kg on long-haul Business Class flights
- Priority check-in
- Earning of status and award miles (see mileage calculator)
