Miles&Smiles: Status & Award Miles Now Credited Again for Flights with AJet

AJet over Istanbul

Just over a year ago, Turkish Airlines rebranded its low-cost carrier AnadoluJet as AJet (as we reported). In the process, the airline was also removed from the Miles&Smiles frequent flyer program. This meant that no miles could be earned on AJet flights, and lounge access was initially completely withdrawn. Shortly afterwards, lounge access for selected domestic flights (except those departing from Istanbul SAW) was at least reinstated.

Now there is also a positive update regarding mileage accrual. Since June 30, Miles&Smiles members can once again earn status and award miles for flights with AJet. The mileage chart can be found on the Turkish Airlines website:

Unfortunately, the cheapest booking class only earns 15% of the distance flown, which equates to around 200 miles for a one-way flight from many Central European airports to Istanbul. But at least that’s a bit better than nothing.

Lounge access has now also been extended to include Istanbul SAW airport. However, according to the lounge access overview, it seems that only the CIP Lounge in the domestic terminal is accessible. This means that for the numerous flights to Europe, this does not provide any benefit, and passengers will still have to rely on Priority Pass or similar programs.

Other status benefits, such as free checked baggage, priority boarding, etc., are not granted. It is also not possible to redeem miles for flights with AJet.
