Both Star Alliance carrier Shenzhen Airlines and SkyTeam member China Eastern Airlines are offering discounted flights from London to Manila, starting at just £380 (~€435). This offer includes 23 kg of checked luggage in both cases.
The biggest downside of this deal is that you will have to endure long layovers in China on your way to Manila. The positive aspect is that these layovers occur during the daytime, allowing you to explore Shanghai or Shenzhen between your flights.
Departures are available from late August to early December.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest prices for trips of up to 28 days. If you choose LON
in our search form, it will show you the most economical dates with China Eastern. If you click on LHR
, it will provide you with the dates for Shenzhen Airlines.
The calendar will forward you to Kayak with your selected flight dates. From there, you can proceed to the airline or check what OTAs have to offer.

If you travel with China Eastern, depending on your departure airport in London to Shanghai, you will fly on an Airbus A330 with a 2-4-2 configuration from Gatwick or a Boeing 777 from London Heathrow with a 3-4-3 configuration. If you travel with Shenzhen Airlines, you will be flying to Shenzhen on an Airbus A330 with an economy class cabin in a 2-4-2 configuration. In both cases, the connecting flight from China to Manila will be operated with an Airbus A320 family or a Boeing 787 with a 3-3 configuration.
Most European passport holders can stay in the Philippines visa-free for up to 30 days.

With China Eastern, this deal will expire on July 31, 2025. It doesn’t have a minimum stay requirement, but has a maximum stay of three months. Departures are available in September and November.
With Shenzhen Airlines, this deal doesn’t have an expiration date but requires a Saturday overnight stay. Departures are available from late August to early December with both airlines.
You can find suitable dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights. We recommend booking directly on the airlines’ websites, but you can find cheaper prices with Kayak. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
