With the AIDAcosma from AIDA Cruises (a German cruise line), you can embark on a one-week cruise around the Canary Islands and Madeira. The journey departs from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and includes stops in Madeira, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. The current price of €71 per night is a true bargain for an inside cabin on such an attractive route.
You can currently book a 7-night cruise in an inside cabin from just €499 per person. However, the oceanview cabins from €679 and balcony cabins from €829 are significantly more appealing (prices per person based on double occupancy).
This trip is particularly recommended for families, as children up to and including 15 years of age stay for free when sharing a cabin with adults. This means a family of 2 adults and 2 children would pay a total price of just €998 for an inside cabin!

Route
Your cruise begins in Gran Canaria’s capital, Las Palmas. Sights in the old town include the Columbus House (Casa de Colón) and the Museo Canario, where you can learn more about the lives of the island’s indigenous people. In the late evening, the AIDAcosma leaves the port and sets a northerly course.
The first stop is the “Island of Flowers,” Madeira. In the capital, Funchal, you can relax in one of the floating cafés on the harbour promenade or experience more action with a traditional basket sledge ride. Afterward, the journey continues to Tenerife, home to Mount Teide, which at 3,715 meters is the highest mountain in Spain. The island also boasts beautiful sandy beaches, such as Las Teresitas.
The next stop on your Atlantic voyage is Fuerteventura. The ship docks in Puerto del Rosario, where a stroll along the seaside promenade is well worth your time. Finally, Lanzarote is on the agenda before the journey concludes back in Gran Canaria after a week.

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
The Ship
The AIDAcosma is the flagship of AIDA and, along with its sister ship AIDAnova, the largest in the fleet. It is powered by LNG, which emits significantly fewer pollutants compared to heavy fuel oil. The AIDAcosma has capacity for nearly 6,600 passengers (5,450 at double occupancy) and 1,400 crew members. The ship’s cruising speed is 17 knots.
The ship features a total of 17 restaurants, including Italian, Asian, South American, and French cuisine. In addition to the buffet restaurants (Markt, Fuege, East, Yachtclub, Bella Donna), there are speciality restaurants that are included but usually require reservations, as well as à la carte restaurants that charge an additional fee.

Drinks from the dispensers, including beer and wine, are included in the buffet restaurants. In the speciality and à la carte restaurants, as well as in the 17 bars and cafés, drinks must be paid for separately (unless you have booked a corresponding drink package).
Unlike its sister ship AIDAnova, the AIDAcosma features an open Ocean Deck with an infinity pool at the stern. Additionally, there is an adults-only area with a pool at the bow and a covered Beach Club in the middle of the ship, which also has another pool. There are several whirlpools and a spa area that exceeds 3,500 square meters, which incurs an additional fee.
A wide range of cultural and recreational activities are offered, including a casino and a cinema. Moreover, 90% of the ship is wheelchair accessible. The onboard language is German, and the currency on the ship is the euro
