At the end of November 2025, the Norwegian Viva, one of the newest ships in the NCL fleet, sets out on a transatlantic voyage from Lisbon to Galveston, Texas. Right now, you have the chance to secure one of the remaining cabins at a bargain price.
Inside cabins for the 15-night journey start at just €516 per person. However, the outside cabins from €575 and balcony cabins from €874 (per person, based on double occupancy) are especially attractive. Solo travellers can travel in an inside cabin from €763, which represents about a 50% surcharge.

The Route
The cruise begins in Lisbon. Among the city’s main attractions are São Jorge Castle and the Alfama district. You can also take tram 28 for a unique city tour passing several major landmarks. Norwegian Viva departs the harbour in the late afternoon and sets course for the Azores.
The first stop is the island capital Ponta Delgada, where you can take a boat trip for whale and dolphin watching. Also worthwhile are a stroll along the long seafront promenade or a visit to the botanical garden. The ship then begins its Atlantic crossing with five consecutive sea days. You won’t get bored, as this is the perfect time to indulge in the ship’s culinary offerings or enjoy its many onboard attractions.
The first Caribbean port is St. Maarten, where you can relax on one of its many beaches or explore the capital, Philipsburg, just a 20-minute walk from the port. Afterwards, the ship continues via La Romana to Cabo Rojo, known for its breathtaking beaches, turquoise waters, and diverse nature. The port of Cabo Rojo only opened in early 2024.
Next, the Norwegian Viva sails to Falmouth, Jamaica, a town on the island’s north coast famous for its various rum distilleries. Nearby, you’ll also find the Dunn’s River Falls, which cascade about 190 meters. After 15 nights, your cruise concludes in Galveston, Texas.

The Ship
The Norwegian Viva, launched in 2023, is one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest Prima-class ships and carries just over 3,000 passengers. Compared to the line’s older vessels, it has a more open, modern design that emphasises outdoor space, cleaner aesthetics, and a generally less crowded feel. The ship’s layout favours wide walkways, light interiors, and sea views, making it feel more upscale without losing NCL’s casual “Freestyle Cruising” approach.
One of the most distinctive features is Ocean Boulevard, a wraparound outdoor promenade lined with bars, lounges, and restaurants, designed to bring passengers closer to the sea. The Viva also includes two infinity pools, glass bridges, and plenty of deck space for relaxation. For those seeking more excitement, there’s a three-deck go-kart track, a water slide complex, and various entertainment venues, including a main theatre that doubles as a nightclub.

Dining reflects NCL’s signature flexibility, with no fixed seating times and a broad range of venues. The main dining rooms are joined by a mix of speciality options such as Italian, sushi, and steakhouse restaurants, plus casual choices for lighter meals. Bars and lounges are spread throughout the ship, catering to both lively evenings and quieter moments.
Cabins range from compact inside staterooms to suites and the exclusive Haven area, which offers private facilities and concierge service. Overall, the Norwegian Viva combines modern design and a relaxed atmosphere, appealing to travellers who want a contemporary cruise experience with plenty of options but without the formalities of traditional cruising.
Flights
The flight back to Europe is not included in this deal. But there are quite a few options to fly back from Texas. For instance, flying back from Dallas to Lisbon would cost US$388 (~€334) with Delta, including luggage. Sadly, flights from nearby Houston are quite a bit more expensive.
