A Personal Note: A Look in the Rearview Mirror & Happy New Year!

If you are reading these lines, the clock nearest to you has probably struck midnight. The final chapter of 2024 has been closed. The past twelve months not only marked the fifth birthday of travel-dealz.com, but a change in its history. My dear colleague Ditmar and I have been here from day one, helping the English language version of this blog out of the cradle.

This past April, Ditmar was named editor-in-chief of our European outpost. This is a remarkable development, as we are no longer the baby-sister who has to be spoon-fed by its adult sibling. We are willing – and able – to walk on our own and make editorial decisions autonomously.

A Big Thank You

This change in our internal structure is mainly thanks to you, our readers. You have been clicking, reading, sharing, recommending and following our dealz this year like never before. We thank you for visiting us monthly, weekly or daily – and no matter if you’ve been with us from day one, one hundred or one thousand: We value your trust and loyalty.

Being able to walk on our own doesn’t mean we have to – or want to – go astray. In contrast, we are doubling down on the path that made our German site as successful as it is: transparent headlines; explanations for experts and beginners alike; and not only naming prices but when and how to get them. You can not only expect us to bring you essential news about immigration requirements, changes in frequent flyer programs, new routes and more. You can also count on us to put them into context. We will continue to follow the good example of our bigger sister, sharing their best pieces while enriching the site with our own content.

A Look Back and Ahead

2024 brought exciting new opportunities for us: A partnership with LuxuryEscapes enabled us to cherry-pick their best offers and present them to you on a silver platter – currently with an additional discount. Carlos, who joined us in late 2023, and is an experienced budget traveller and organizer, started sharing his insights in pieces about Thailand, Japan and China. Our eSIM database is growing and a constant source of savings for travellers. It has become even more customer-friendly thanks to our country-specific lists. After a failed attempt in early 2023, this year also brought back cruise deals to our site – to a much warmer reception.

As both readers and editors alike are in the starting blocks for a new year, we would like you to share your feedback: Is there anything you’d like more of? Is there anything you could do without? Feel free to share it in the comments. And yes, we’d also appreciate more error fares.

Oh, and by the way…. Happy 2025!

Carlos, Ditmar, Felix, Miklos

This is my go to site for travel. Always on top of the latest news and deals. WRT the future, I wish you could start a branch for N American travelers in the future, as I’m sure that you have many subscribers here now as well (I have moved here also).
    Thanks for all you do!
    Stefan

+1 with SG above. This in one of 6 or 7 travel sites I look at everyday, I like your mix of deals shown and “best of” especially the hotels when you show the best/cheapest of each brand by region.
