Aeromexico Sitz Boeing 787 9

SkyTeam member Aeromexico has issued an interesting business class fare. Flights from several Spanish airports to Mexico City are sold for as little as €661 oneway with a change of planes in Amsterdam or Madrid. The fare includes lounge access and 32 kg of hold luggage.

You can find this fare with departure from the following Spanish airports:

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to Aeromexico with your selected flight dates. You can also check what OTAs have to offer, as Aeromexico doesn’t have availabilities on all possible flight dates.

On the long-haul routes between Europe and Mexico City, you will be travelling in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The configuration depends on whether the aircraft is a B787-8 or B787-9. The feeder flights are Boeing 737 or an Embraer-Jet services, operated by Air Europa, is used. You can expect better catering and an empty middle seat.

On some flights from the Canaries to Madrid, you can end up on an Air Europa Boeing 787 with lie-flat-seats, enabling you to add two more hours in lie-flat-business to your journey.

Aeromexico has two different business class products on their Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The -8s have a 2-2-2 configuration, where you would need to climb over your seatmate to leave your seat if you are in a window seat. They do recline to a lie-flat position.

The -9 Dreamliner however, has Super Diamond seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, allowing direct aisle access.

Search & Book

According to the fare rules, tickets at this price are available until July 31, 2024 for travel between August 2024 and March 2025. You must book at least 45 days in advance to get the lowest fare.

Finding these tickets can be tricky, as Google Flights previews some, but not all flight dates accurately. While you can purchase tickets from Aeromexico for some of these dates, others are only available through online travel agencies when using searching via Skyscanner. Itineraries with two or more stops and overnight layovers are usually not available on Aeromexico’s website.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Google Flights also previews roundtrips from the three mentioned airports for €1,500 or less. However, these tickets are not distributed through Aeromexico’s website, and you will have a hard time finding a vendor that actually sells them at the advertised fare.
