Oneworld member British Airways has put a decent price tag on first class flights to San Francisco from Stockholm. If you book by tomorrow (September 20, 2022), you can enjoy BA’s number one product (and lounge) for just SEK 27,337 (~€2,472). All flights include 3×32 kg checked bags and access to lounges including the famous first class lounges in London.
If you’d like to make it more difficult, you can choose itineraries which include US domestic flights to increase your mileage earnings. Or you can fly into San José, although that’s more expensive and probably less convenient. So, we’ll stick to San Francisco.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips of 5 to 28 days. It will forward you to British Airways with your preselected flight dates:

For your flight to London, you will end up on the Airbus A320 family which feature the European Business Class. The longer flights to San Francisco usually feature an Airbus A380, although there are Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 flights available.
British Airways First Class
British Airways’ first class is not as glamorous as its Middle Eastern or Asian competitors. On the other hand, it’s often offered for prices that are not very far from what others charge for business class. All tickets include a 3x 32 kg baggage allowance, access to first class lounges (where available) and exquisite catering.

The seats are 1.98 m long and also more spacious than those in the new business class Club Suite. However, there are only doors in the latest product on board a few of the Boeing 777 planes. Depending on the type of aircraft, the cabin consists of 8 to 14 first class seats.

Search & Book
You need to book until September 20, 2022. The travel period lasts from January 5 to March 31 and you need to spend a Saturday night in California.
The best way to look for flights is to use our availability calendar above. It will forward you to British Airways’ website. Google Flights doesn’t show all flight options. We highly suggest booking through the airline for tickets this expensive.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Mileage
British Airways issues the long flights in booking class A and the shorter ones in booking class J. Unfortunately, the trips have to be flown next year, when BA’s lowered status thresholds end, meaning you’d fall shortly behind the Sapphire threshold. To get Oneworld Sapphire status easily and cheaply, you can take advantage of the Flight & Hotel or Car deal. Provided that you don’t include US domestic flights, you would earn the following mileage:
- 31,316 Points on Finnair Plus
- 31,316 Avios + 500 Tier Credits on Aer Lingus AerClub
- 18,334 Avios + 128 Qpoints on Qatar Privilege Club
- 18,334 AsiaMiles + 230 Club Points on Asia Miles
- 18,334 Miles on Japan Airlines Mileage Bank
- 18,334 Award Miles on LATAM Pass
- 18,334 Points + 26 Elite Points on Malaysia Airlines Enrich
- 18,334 Miles on Royal Air Maroc Safar Flyer
- 18,334 Miles on Royal Jordanian Royal Club
- 18,334 Miles on SriLankan FlySmiLes
- 18,334 Miles on Alaska Mileage Plan
- 11,240 Miles on American AAdvantage

Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
