We often write about IHG‘s most famous luxury brand, InterContinental Hotels. But today we’re going to take a look at Kimpton Hotels. The brand was the largest chain of boutique hotels in the United States a decade ago and has since been acquired by IHG. In recent years, the brand has expanded overseas, but as the list of the cheapest properties shows, these upscale hotels are mainly found in the US, especially the affordable ones:
- Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, Atlanta, United States, starting at €116
- Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Manchester, United Kingdom, starting at €119
- Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore, United States, starting at €123
- Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland, United States, starting at €126
- Kimpton Schofield Hotel, Cleveland, United States, starting at €127
- Kimpton Overland Hotel Atlanta Airport, United States, starting at €129
- Kimpton Cottonwood, Omaha, United States, starting at €130
- Kimpton Shane Hotel, Atlanta, United States, starting at €134
- Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle, United States, starting at €140
- Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, New Orleans, United States, starting at €141

By the way, we do not claim that you’ll regularly get the prices above. They are simply the cheapest prices we were able to find. Here’s a map of these 10 hotels:
Conclusion
It’s seldom the case, that US properties dominate a list of the cheapest hotels of a brand. While it is true that the majority of Kimpton Hotels are located in the US, it is still remarkable that the overseas properties (with one exception) are far more expensive. Even in otherwise cheap Asia, Kimpton hotels cost over twice as much as the hotels on this list. And compared to the prices of other upscale hotels in America, these prices are actually very attractive!

Isnt the reason for that just because a lot of the US Kimptons just arent very good and probably shouldnt be branded as Kimptons? Certainly some of the ones I was looking in to were more like holiday inns than EU and Asian Kimptons.
