You can currently purchase Avios (award miles) from Finnair Plus with a discount of up to 40%. If you buy at least 100,000 Avios in a single transaction, you can get them for as low as 1.26 cents per mile (cpm). For smaller quantities, the price is slightly higher. The offer is only valid if the Finnair Plus account was created before June 1, 2025, and currently has at least 500 Avios.
The Avios can then be transferred at a 1:1 ratio to the British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, or Qatar’s Privilege Club. So if you don’t find anything directly with Finnair, you can still benefit from other Avios “sweet spots”. Some redemption ideas for Avios are listed further down in the article. However, the availability of sweet spots is very low, so please search for availability before purchasing the Avios!
The offer is available from June 16 to June 30, 2025 (Helsinki local time, which is 10:59 PM CET).
The discount varies depending on the number of points purchased, as follows:
- 5,000 to 19,000 Avios: 25% discount (2.02 – 1.65 cpm)
- 20,000 to 49,000 Avios: 30% discount (1.54 cpm)
- 50,000 to 74,000 Avios: 35% discount (1.43 cpm)
- 75,000 to 99,000 Avios: 40% discount (1.32 cpm)
- 100,000 to 200,000 Avios: 40% discount (1.26 cpm)
When purchasing miles, pay attention to the price tiers, e.g. the price for 75,000 Avios (€990) is significantly lower than for 74,000 Avios (€1,058), making the latter option impractical.
You can buy a maximum of 200,000 Avios for €2,520. This is also the annual limit for points purchased per Finnair account.
According to Finnair, the Avios are credited within 1 to 3 days. After that, you can use them directly for award flights, upgrades, and more with Finnair Plus, or transfer them to another mileage program:
Transferring Avios to British Airways, Iberia & Qatar Airways
Since May this year, it has become possible to transfer Finnair Avios to the British Airways Executive Club. From there, you could also transfer them to programs like the Qatar Privilege Club. These mileage transfer options exist (1:1 and fee-free):
