Flying Blue, the frequent flyer program of Air France and KLM, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. And so, their promotion features that exact number: You’ll get 20% more miles if you book an Air France, KLM, or Transavia flight between now and June 20. The flights then have to take place before December 31, 2025. The promotion is valid for all travel classes, except first class (or La Première, as those fancy French people call it).

The flights have to be marketed and operated by Air France, KLM, or Transavia. To put it clearly, this means that the flight number has to begin with AF, KL, or HV, and that one of these airlines also has to be the one flying you from A to B. A flight e.g. booked on Delta’s website, or operated by e.g. China Eastern, would not be eligible for the bonus miles.
The number of miles you earn on these flights is linked to the price you’ve paid for the ticket (excluding taxes) and your frequent flyer status:
Status | Usually | With the 20% bonus |
---|---|---|
Explorer | 4 miles per euro | 4.8 miles per euro |
Silver | 6 miles per euro | 7.2 miles per euro |
Gold | 7 miles per euro | 8.4 miles per euro |
Platinum | 8 miles per euro | 9.6 miles per euro |
Ultimate | 9 miles per euro | 10.8 miles per euro |
The bonus will be applied automatically. There is no need to sign up for this promotion.
The number of XP (i.e. status miles) you’d earn is not affected by this promotion and stays the same as always.
These are our current best Air France and KLM deals that you could use to take advantage of this promotion:
If we take these deals as an example, you would be getting roughly 400 to 600 additional miles thanks to this promotion if you don’t hold a status. Gold members would at least be getting roughly 1,000 miles.
Conclusion
It’s always nice to get a free bonus. However, the number of miles you get at Flying Blue (especially for cheap tickets) is so laughably low anyway, that a 20% bonus usually only actually gets you a 3-digit number of additional miles if you don’t hold a status. And that’s nothing to get excited about.
Flying Blue says that this is the first of more promotions to come. We can only hope that the next ones will be better.
