One-way: Honolulu to Sydney Starting at $109/€100 with Jetstar ($148/€137 With Checked Luggage)

Jetstar Dreamliner Boeing 787

Australian budget airline Jetstar has come up with a really great one-way fare for notoriously pricey crossings of the Pacific Ocean. With departure from Honolulu, you can reach Sydney for as little asUS$109 (~€94). A suitcase up to 20 kg can be added for an additional fee of around $39. However, Jetstar remains a budget airline, meaning that drinks, food, and seat selection are not included. Departures are spread throughout 2025 with most departures in August, September, November and December.

Flights to Melbourne are roughly $80 more expensive, but still far cheaper than most alternatives.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates. It will forward you to Skyscanner or momondo with your selected flight date. Skyscanner will forward you to Jetstar’s website, where the cheapest tickets are available.

Jetstar uses Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for trips between Sydney and Hawaii. Compared to other long-haul budget airlines like Scoot, Jetstar offers a decent seat pitch and adjustable head-rests. Their cabin product has received fairly decent reviews, though you can’t expect any luxury. All seats feature inflight entertainment, though using it comes with additional costs of at least A$10 (~US$7). The flight from Hawaii to Australia takes roughly ten hours.

Visa Info

Most Europeans need a visa to enter Australia. You can apply for the visa online. It’s best to apply at least 1 month before travelling. The visa is free.

Search & Book

The fare rules don’t give away an expiration date for this fare. Departures are spread throughout 2025.

You can use Google Flights to scout for additional flight dates. A shortcut is Jetstar’s very own calendar, which comes with the additional benefit of booking directly on their website.

Adding Checked Bags

JetStar offers four different fares for the route, only the cheapest prices out at $109. Even if you want to check bags, we do not recommend purchasing the bundles unless you really want everything that is included.

Jetstar Fare Selection

When selecting the Starter fare, you will be able to add checked bags at the next step with the following prices:

  • 20 kg checked bag for US$39 (~€34)
  • 14 kg cabin bags for US$43 (~€37) (instead of 7 kg)
  • 30 kg checked bag for US$50 (~€43)
  • 20 kg checked bag + food + seat selection at US$54 (~€47)

Since Jetstar is infamous for a strict cabin bag policy (and actually weighing those bad boys), you might want to consider buying the packages instead of paying up at the gate.

Miles & Points

The Starter fare for the advertised $109 gives no miles in any case. If you select the more expensive bundles, you can earn miles on Qantas Frequent Flyer – but nowhere else.
