United States: Nonstop from London starting at €292 / £247 (carry on only)

Los Angeles

Because of its importance to many airlines and a bevy of nonstop destinations, London-Heathrow airport is a battleground for cheap direct flights to many destinations. Oneworld stalwart British Airways, Star Alliance member United Airlines and Skyteam member Delta Air Lines and its associate Virgin Atlantic are outbidding each other for nonstop roundtrips between London-Heathrow and the United States, selling flights as low as €292 (~£255). Unfortunately, none of these fares includes checked bags.

You can reach the following destinations for really attractive nonstop roundtrip prices:

Search & Book

All of these flights are displayed on Google Flights. The most convenient way to find suiting travel dates is using their calendar (instructions) and use the data you’ve found on our flight search or a carrier’s website like ba.com. Not all carriers match their prices on all possible travel dates, but you have plenty of variety to choose from. Flights to California show best availability in October and November 2020 at the quoted price.

All fare rules have in common that your minimum stay is respecting the saturday night rule. A maximum stay of twelve months is given, as well. These fares mainly show up during the spring and autumn of 2020.

Mileage

Tickets will be issued in booking classes O (BA), K (UA) or T (VS). Unsurprisingly, none of these will emit huge amounts of award mileage. A maximum of 50% of distance mileage will be credited to your account.

Information & Tips for USA

The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.

The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
