All itineraries feature one European business class ride from Athens to either Frankfurt, Munich or Zurich. If the first segment doesn’t end up in Frankfurt, you will fly European business once more to get to Lufthansa’s main hub. From there, a Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 or A340-300 with lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 seating layout takes you to Saudi Arabia.
Generally, Travel-Dealz writers and readers are not big fans of the Lufthansa business class, even though it is definitely not bad. One reason for that is that the service is too inconsistent: From extremely friendly and quick to unfriendly and slow – everything is possible with Lufthansa, even in business class. Regarding the seats, they are mostly fine, though not really on-par with the competition anymore. That’s why the airline is now slowly installing their new Allegris seats.
If you are just interested in the Qualifying Points, there are more convenient and cheaper options to get your hands on them.
Most Europeans will need a Visa to enter Saudi Arabia. While a visa-on-arrival is possible, it is generally recommended to get a visa at least 3 days before departure online.

Information & Tips for Riyadh
Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, blends modernity with deep-rooted traditions. Key sights include the National Museum, the historic Masmak Fortress, and the towering Kingdom Centre, offering panoramic city views. The local currency is the Saudi riyal (SAR), and while some attractions are reasonably priced, the overall cost of travel—especially dining and accommodation—can be relatively high. The climate is arid, with extremely hot summers and mild winters, so visiting between November and March is generally more comfortable.

Ich bin Anfang Oktober von ZAG dabei 🙂 Einmal A340-600 fliegen 🙂
is it first class on this route? would be nice to use my upgrade vouchers.
Hi David! It seems like Lufthansa uses A340-600 – equipped with First Class seats – until December 2025 on this route. You can try your luck. From January 2026, the equipment changes to A330, without First Class.
Ja, ist ohne Probleme möglich. Fast immer Verfügbarkeiten
