The Ship
Mein Schiff 1 was completed in 2018 at the Meyer Turku shipyard. The cruise ship (construction cost €625 million) is 316 meters long, 36 meters wide, and offers space for up to 2,894 guests and 1,000 crew members. Its godmothers were the two outstanding beach volleyball players, Kira Walkenhorst and Laura Ludwig.
Onboard, there are 12 restaurants & bistros (e.g., Japanese & Italian) and 17 bars and lounges. With the Premium All-Inclusive concept, dining is available 24 hours a day. However, the specialty restaurants in the Große Freiheit area are excluded and require a surcharge. The beverage package includes over 100 brand-name drinks & cocktails.
A varied entertainment program and childcare are part of the concept, so there’s no chance of boredom. Amenities include a fitness center, sports court, outdoor jogging track, golf simulator, theatre, lounge, disco, casino, open-air cinema, and a spa and wellness area of approximately 2,400 square meters. Both the fitness area and the sauna are free to use. The onboard language is German, and the currency is the Euro.
