Your journey begins in the vibrant metropolis of New York City. Before you board the MSC Meraviglia and set sail in the afternoon from Brooklyn, you might have time to catch a glimpse of iconic sights like DUMBO or Governors Island, or even get to Park Slope to enjoy some slices at Luigi’s Pizza.

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$21 (~€19) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
The Ship
The MSC Meraviglia was completed in 2017 at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard for US$900 million and christened by the legendary Sophia Loren. The ship is 315 meters long, 43 meters wide, and accommodates approximately 5,500 passengers and 2,200 crew members across its 19 decks. A standout feature is the impressive Mediterranean-style promenade with a spectacular LED sky dome.
A wide range of cultural and leisure activities are offered, including exclusive Cirque du Soleil shows. Other amenities include a water park with a giant slide, 4 pools, 9 jacuzzis, a bowling alley, a casino, a disco, a 4D cinema, a fitness center, an outdoor jogging track, and a luxurious spa area.
With 11 restaurants and 20 bars, there is a culinary delight for every taste. Specialty restaurants, available for an extra charge, include options like Spanish and Japanese cuisine. Full board in the main and buffet restaurants is included in the cruise price.
The onboard languages are English and Italian. You can find crew members who speak several European languages, identifiable by a note on their name tags. All menus and information are available in all major European languages. For this Caribbean itinerary, the onboard currency is the US Dollar.
