From France to Fort-de-France: 15 Nights on the MSC Virtuosa for €849pp, incl. Tips

MSC Virtuosa

In November 2025, the MSC Virtuosa will reposition from Europe to the French-speaking Caribbean for the upcoming winter season. At present, the prices for the required Atlantic crossing are quite attractive.

For 15 nights from Le Havre to Fort-de-France on Martinique, you’ll pay just €849 per person in an inside cabin. If you prefer a view of the sea, you can instead choose an ocean view cabin starting from €1,079 or a balcony cabin from €1,219 (prices per person based on double occupancy).

The following services are included as standard in the cruise fare with MSC Cruises:

  • Full board with all meals in the main and buffet restaurants (speciality restaurants available at extra cost)
  • Cold and hot water, coffee, tea, and milk are available all day during buffet opening hours
  • Gratuities
  • Fitness facilities (gym, pools, and sports areas)

The Route

The cruise departs from Le Havre, France. The ship leaves the port around 7:00 PM and heads toward the Azores archipelago, where you’ll visit the capital, Ponta Delgada. The Azores are especially popular with hikers. You can also take a boat tour to see whales and dolphins in the Atlantic. This is followed by five days at sea before the ship arrives in Barbados.

There, you can enjoy a relaxing day on one of the many sandy beaches or visit the Mount Gay Rum Distillery to learn about rum production. Next, the MSC Virtuosa sails to Basseterre. On St. Kitts, you might take a ride on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway along the coast. Nature lovers can go hiking or take boat trips to explore local wildlife and flora.

The next stop is St. John’s. Close to the port is Dickenson Bay Beach, arguably the island’s most popular beach, which is easily reached by taxi from the cruise terminal. After that, you’ll visit Roseau on the island of Dominica. A trip to Morne Trois Pitons National Park is worthwhile here—it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site with stunning volcanic landscapes, gorges, rainforests, and waterfalls. The journey ends after 15 nights in Martinique.

The Ship

The MSC Virtuosa (Meraviglia-Plus class) was completed in 2020 at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard. At 331 meters long and 43 meters wide, the ship accommodates nearly 6,400 passengers and 1,700 crew members. With a gross tonnage of 181,000, it can reach a top speed of 23 knots.

In addition to a buffet restaurant featuring in-house mini mozzarella production and a quality main dining room, the ship offers seven speciality restaurants at an additional cost (e.g., Mexican & Japanese cuisine) and 21 bars. The central area of the Virtuosa is called the Galleria and houses the speciality restaurants, various shops, and bars. The Galleria leads into the theatre entrance at the bow.

For an extra fee, guests can enjoy spa and fitness facilities, as well as a variety of cultural and leisure offerings, including a bowling alley, theatre, casino, nightclub, and 4D cinema.

The ship has a beautiful upper deck with an aft pool, plus a large water park and rope course. One downside is the long distances to the only two elevator shafts. The onboard languages are English and Italian. The currency used on board is the euro.

Flights

Surely, you’ll want to return to Europe after the cruise. Currently these are the two cheapest options (including luggage):

  • To Frankfurt with Air Canada: €528
  • To Paris with Air Caraibes or Corsair: €580
