Oneworld carrier American Airlines currently sells discounted premium tickets from Spain to Colombia. Business class roundtrips from Barcelona to Bogotá are currently available for US$1,728 (~€1,480) – a fare that includes checked bags, lounge access and other business class perks. Departures at the lowest fare are available in January, February and November 2026. These tickets require immigration to the USA on both in- and outbound flight.

These tickets include multiple options on your way to Bogotá. The quickest and most convenient is via Miami, with an American’s Boeing 777-200 fleet operating long-haul flights. You can also fly via Dallas – in this case, you’d be be boarding a Boeing 787 to America. If you don’t mind changing planes twice, you can also add an American or Spanish domestic flight to your journey. In the latter case, Iberia takes you from Barcelona to Madrid before crossing the pond.
All flights from Dallas and Miami to Colombia are operated by American’s Boeing 737 fleet. You can expect recliner seats in a 2-2 pattern in business class.
Even if American Airlines doesn’t enjoy a good reputation for many, its business class is very good. Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

Bogotá, Colombia’s high-altitude capital, offers a mix of colonial history and urban culture, with key sights including the Gold Museum, Monserrate hill, and the historic La Candelaria district. The local currency is the Colombian peso (COP), and prices are generally affordable for most travellers. Credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, though cash is useful for smaller purchases.
